The Google owned platform hosts video content from users and brands around the world and is watched for billions of hours every single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their place at the top has been questioned with the evolvement of video content through apps like <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/can-i-add-my-music-to-tiktok-for-free\/\">TikTok<\/a>, which have made short and vertical videos the norm. But YouTube remains a huge player, not just thanks to it&#8217;s own TikTok-like <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/using-youtube-shorts-as-an-artist\/\">YouTube Shorts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video giant has just <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/digital\/news\/youtube-q1-2024-revenue-alphabet-earnings-1235982528\/\">posted it&#8217;s earnings of $8.1 billion in ad sales<\/a> for the first quarter of 2024. This is not only its highest Q1 in history, but a 21% increase year-on-year. This shows YouTube aren&#8217;t just at the top of the game, but continue to grow considerably. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube smashed Wall Street analysts&#8217; predictions of $7.72 billion for the quarter. The figure represents revenue generated from advertising and does not account for cash earned from <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-music-versus-youtube-premium\/\">YouTube Premium subscriptions<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=routenote+youtube+fan+fund&amp;sca_esv=74899351e738f79e&amp;sca_upv=1&amp;ei=d2EvZoDtJtS4hbIP0rmVmA0&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjAhO_Hh-eFAxVUXEEAHdJcBdMQ4dUDCBA&amp;uact=5&amp;oq=routenote+youtube+fan+fund&amp;gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiGnJvdXRlbm90ZSB5b3V0dWJlIGZhbiBmdW5kMgUQIRigAUikKlDGCViQKXAFeAGQAQCYAaoBoAH3DaoBBDE2LjS4AQPIAQD4AQGYAhmgAr0OwgIKEAAYsAMY1gQYR8ICBRAAGIAEwgIGEAAYFhgewgILEAAYgAQYhgMYigXCAgcQIRigARgKwgIEECEYFZgDAIgGAZAGCJIHBDIxLjSgB55W&amp;sclient=gws-wiz-serp#ip=1\">other creator payments<\/a>. In 2023, YouTube Premium and YouTube TV generated $15 billion in revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, YouTube celebrated 100 million subscribers now signed up to <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/free-youtube-music-distribution-2\/\">YouTube Music<\/a> and Premium, their two subscription offerings.
