The Edifier D32 is a Bluetooth speaker perfect for any occasion. Its retro design looks amazing and the speaker utilises a dual tweeter and double bass port design which sounds nothing short of amazing.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Its retro themes complemented by accordion keys will suit most spaces while its built-in battery makes it portable, although its size does present some challenges in that department. While younger buyers with a taste for flashy and bold designs may prefer something like Edifier’s QD35, the D32 Bluetooth speaker and its call to the past deliver a super modern sound that’s not easy to find in smaller desktop speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released in March 2024 and asking for $150, the Edifier<\/strong><\/a> D32 is feature-rich and offers plenty of connectivity options. It’s one of the most versatile speakers I’ve come across and is one I won’t be removing from this high pedal stool I’m placing it on any time soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sound<\/strong>: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I was immediately impressed by the sheer weight of the sound. Thanks, I’m sure, to its two rear bass ports, the bass response in the D32 is excellent with a thick, warm low-end sound packed with punch that isn’t boomy at all. Edifier’s QR35 fell short here with a boomy low end that could at times be overwhelming and had a negative impact on my listening experience. Thankfully, Edifier has resolved this issue with the D32.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edifier’s fashionably retro speaker is Hi-Res Certified and supports Sony’s LDAC codec, so expect up to 24-bit \/ 96 kHz audio with any LDAC-enabled device. The wireless speaker sounds great with or without Hi-Res enabled so don’t be disheartened if you find yourself in the minority of people without the LDAC device. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stereo projection is limited, although the dual tweeter design does provide sufficient width for such a small portable speaker. Mids are magnificently defined with vocals and instrumentation punching through cleanly with no boxed-in qualities. Kick drums and bass each have their place, no matter if you’re enjoying electronic, metal or acoustic music. Snares snap beneath vocal lines and compliment the kick drum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bass music and metal sounded full which is no easy task for a 3″ mid-bass woofer. Meanwhile, hats, cymbals and reverb tails lock in at the treble end of the spectrum while the low end remains clean from mud and overcrowdedness. Unlike the QD35 which didn’t sound great universally, the D32 doesn’t discriminate against musical style and sounds great no matter what you play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edifier’s D32 boasts a versatile feature set with its accordion-style keyboard giving the speaker an edge on the rest. Readily accessible via the keyboard are playback and connectivity controls which you can cycle through with LED indicators informing you which mode you’re in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the D32 is a convenient speaker to use and the initial Bluetooth connection was seamless. Additionally, downloading and using the ConneX app is an option although it isn’t necessary, I didn’t open the app until I had music playing. If you like to avoid your smartphone, you can make full use of the speaker without the app unless you want to access the EQ controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favourite feature of the D32 is its portability. Although it’s powered by mains, it also houses a 7.4V battery that offers a good few hours of playtime. As a result, the speaker is a sleek addition to any room but provides enough playtime for outdoor sessions with friends. If you can find a suitable protective case you could bring it with you on trips to the beach too, but its size makes it less suited to such activities. Nevertheless, it’s very convenient to have the option of a portable speaker from one room to another for, say, music while cleaning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further increasing its versatility is the number of connectivity options. A provided 3.5mm aux cable offers a wired connection, while iOS users can make use of the D32s’ Wifi capabilities with Apple AirPlay. The wireless speaker also utilizes the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology and the rear-side USB-C port provides transmission over USB and smart device charging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asking for only $150, Edifier is offering a lot of functionality for a reasonable price tag. One notable missing feature is the lack of any support for voice assistants. I’d imagine this might explain why the speaker is so affordable for what it’s offering, but it would be super convenient to simply ask Google, Alexa or Siri to play music through the D32. With that said, there is support for Apple AirPlay so iOS users can play music over Wifi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Edifier D32 is a super attractive option with its portability, fashionable style and ease of use. It sounds excellent and is much more balanced than other Bluetooth speakers thanks to its two tweeters and bass ports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m sure we can all agree that the D32 looks fabulous, right? Its minimal design and handmade <\/strong><\/em>build complement spaces superbly as the two colour options, black walnut & white with rose gold, aren’t overbearing or too in your face like the QD35, easily complimenting any space they’re placed in. The two colour options will suit a variety of spaces including bookshelves, tabletops, and anywhere you can think of. Need a speaker for your bedroom? Living room? The D32 has you covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sophisticated design is further complimented by the braided grille and accordion keys, summing to a retro vibe that easily suits nostalgia collectors & Back to the Future fans. The design does make me wonder whether Edifier designed the speaker for an older audience. I’m not sure how many younger buyers would choose such a design over the bold, flashy design of the QD35. Nevertheless, the D32 delivers better sound quality than the QD35 and other desktop speakers so, for me, it’s immediately a better deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retro vibe is appealing to anyone with a taste for the past, but the colour options contrast and each will appeal to different consumers. Either way, the speaker looks fabulous and sounds even better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edifier has designed a fantastic sounding and looking speaker packed with the necessary features. Sure, the lack of a smart assistant is a notable oversight, but if that were to ramp up the price further then it’s understandable why it’s absent. With its portability, device charging over USB-C, a super retro-stylish look and jaw-dropping sound… what’s not to love?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m sad to say anyone in Europe will be hard-pressed to find the D32 on shop shelves. Edifier is only shipping the speaker to the US & Asia but I’m hopeful that this will change in the future<\/span>. Nevertheless, the D32 is an excellent speaker for music lovers and socials with friends. It’s affordable despite its expensive sound and jam-packed feature set; although the design may be unappealing to some younger buyers I’m sure older consumers will appreciate the retro design.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
