The IFPI has just published the Global Album Award for 2023, revealing the top 20 biggest-selling albums of the year.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Music industry organisation, IFPI has announced the annual Global Album Award for 2023. This list pulls together the top 20 albums based on worldwide sales, across streaming, download and physical formats during the calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Korean boy band SEVENTEEN<\/strong> scored the top position in 2023, with their first ever IFPI Global Charts Award-winning album FML<\/em>. Released in April 2023, FML<\/em> was the most pre-ordered album in K-Pop history and debuted at number 1 in South Korea. It also reached number 1 in Japan, as well as the top 5 in France and the US. The band’s follow up album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN<\/em>, released in October, reached number 8 in the IFPI Global Album Chart 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Korean artists were responsible for five of the top 10 albums – the best ever Global Charts performance for K-Pop. Stray Kids<\/strong> also achieved two albums in the top 10, with albums 5-STAR<\/em> and ROCK-STAR<\/em>. The top 20 saw debut appearances from more K-Pop acts, including NCT DREAM<\/strong>, ZEROBASEONE<\/strong> and IVE<\/strong>, as well as Jung Kook<\/strong>, who saw his first solo appearance after success with BTS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of K-Pop, Taylor Swift<\/strong> was awarded with two albums in the top 10, including Midnights<\/em>, which hit the top 5 for the second consecutive year, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version)<\/em>, re-released in October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global Album Chart saw first appearances from North American acts Morgan Wallen<\/strong>, SZA<\/strong> and Travis Scott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted to present this year\u2019s IFPI Global Album Award to SEVENTEEN, following the incredible performance of FML across the world. The global appeal of K-Pop continues to extend and S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Migyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino continue to push the boundaries with their concepts, performances and talent. FML and SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN were both huge hits across continents and our congratulations go to the group, their team and of course CARATs all over the world!<\/p>
