Apple<\/a><\/strong><\/span> announced a new 15″ MacBook, new base models for the Apple Studio, and an M2 Ultra MacBook Pro at this year’s WWDC event. There’s a lot to unpack, but these hardware upgrades are perfect for music producers and independent artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 15″ MacBook Pro was Apple’s first hardware announcement at WWDC, and it’s the company’s first truly large laptop that’s aimed at everyday users. It utilises a fanless M2 chip, MagSafe connector and twin Thunderbolt 4 ports like the 13″ MacBook Pro, and it combines them with a 15.3-inch retina display and an 18-hour battery life. Engadget<\/a><\/strong><\/span> notes that it’s been dubbed the “world’s thinnest” 15-inch laptop at 0.45 inches thick and 3.3lbs in weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apple announced that the Mac Studio now has two base configurations which start with the M2 Max going up to the M2 Ultra. While the M2 Ultra offers double the performance of the M2 Max, it also asks for over double the price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, the company announced the Mac Pro now offers an M2 Ultra specification too. The Mac Pro was the centrepiece of many professional music studios across the globe for some time, and now that Apple is upgrading its infamous computer to the Silicone range it’ll be great to see the Mac Pro reclaim its place in studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Furthermore, the Mac Pro is more than suitable for a range of digital tasks in addition to music production. It offers configurable PCIe slots which are necessary for video editors, Pro Tools Ultimate users, as well as anyone who likes to upgrade their system with additional hardware. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
