{"id":95724,"date":"2023-05-03T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=95724"},"modified":"2023-05-03T14:54:35","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T13:54:35","slug":"youtube-q1-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-q1-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"YouTube Q1 2023 &#8211; ad revenue is down 2.6% year-over-year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">YouTube&#8217;s parent company Alphabet&#8217;s first quarter 2023 results gives details on the advertising and subscription revenue of YouTube.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/abc.xyz\/investor\/static\/pdf\/2023Q1_alphabet_earnings_release.pdf\">Alphabet&#8217;s Q1 2023 financial results<\/a> shows YouTube&#8217;s ad revenue for the first three months of 2023 at $6.69 billion, down from $6.87 billion, representing a decrease of 2.6% year-over-year. While a decrease in revenue is never good news, this does come after <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtubes-q1-2022-ad-revenue-was-more-than-double-spotifys-entire-revenue-for-the-quarter\/\">an exceptionally good couple of years.<\/a> YouTube&#8217;s Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat described this stat as a &#8220;stabilization in ad spend on a sequential basis in YouTube&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A dip in ad revenue was made up for by growth in subscriptions. While Alphabet didn&#8217;t give out exact figures, &#8216;Google other&#8217; which covers subscription services YouTube TV, YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, grew 8.8% to $7.41 billion.
