Q1 2023 report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Spotify just posted their first quarter 2023 earnings, updating the numbers of both their monthly active user and Premium subscribers.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify&#8217;s Q1 2023 financial performance shows yet another quarter of strong growth, with record high users and subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As shown in the graphic above, Spotify&#8217;s monthly active users are now at 515 million, <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-q4-2022\/\">up from 489 million last quarter<\/a> and up 22% <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/users-and-subscribers-on-spotify\/\">year-over-year<\/a>. This is the first time any music streaming service has passed half a billion users! Paying Spotify Premium subscribers reached 210 million at the end of March this year. <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-200-million-subscribers\/\">This comes after they surpassed the 200 million mark<\/a> in <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-q4-2022\/\">Q4 2022<\/a> and is up 15% <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/users-and-subscribers-on-spotify\/\">year-over-year<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These numbers come alongside the infographics below, highlighting the biggest features Spotify announced in Q1 2023. These include <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-in-south-korea-arrived-two-years-ago-has-it-been-a-success\/\">celebrating two years since launching in South Korea<\/a>, and of course <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-announce-at-stream-on-2023\/\">the updates that came at Spotify&#8217;s second Stream On event in March,<\/a> which brought with it artist promotional tools like <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-showcase\/\">Showcase<\/a> and <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/discovery-mode-with-routenote\/\">Discovery Mode<\/a>, as well as other new features like <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/countdown-page-for-spotify-presave\/\">Countdown Pages<\/a>, <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-are-clips-on-spotify\/\">Spotify Clips<\/a>, <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotifys-new-ai-dj\/\">AI DJ<\/a>, and a <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-for-mobile-redesign-tiktok-clone\/\">redesigned mobile interface<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery Q1 since going public in 2018:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Monthly Active Users<\/strong> grew by 22% year-over-year to 515 million driven by strength in both developed and developing markets, and nearly all age groups.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Premium Subscribers<\/strong> grew 15% year-over-year to 210 million with outperformance across all regions, led by Europe and Latin America.<\/li><li><strong>Total Revenue <\/strong>grew 14% year-over-year to \u20ac3.0 billion, led by Subscriber gains.<\/li><li><strong>Gross Margin <\/strong>finished at 25.2%, reflecting improved music and podcast profitability.<\/li><li><strong>Operating (Loss)\/Income<\/strong> finished at \u20ac(156) million, aided by lower marketing spend.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"user-select:
