The manufacturer’s new MPX series of preamps is inspired by the famous\u00a0Ampex 351\u00a0tube preamp from the\u00a01950s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warm Audio’s new WA-MPX and WA-2MPX vintage-style tube preamps feature 3 tubes per channel, but the MPX also gives you plenty of tonal flexibility that allows you to add more character to your sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly, Gear News reports that the MPX uses\u00a0CineMag\u00a0custom-wound transformers combined with some flexible topology options, in addition to a\u00a0tape saturation\u00a0circuit that gives you a crisp, warm sound. Furthermore, each channel can give you a massive\u00a090 dB\u00a0of tube amplification after you utilize the high gain mode that introduces the\u00a0third tube\u00a0to the signal path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result, the MPX is a versatile preamp for\u00a0both dynamic and condenser microphones in addition to ribbon\u00a0microphones. It gives you plenty of discrete gain for\u00a0low-output\u00a0mics and quiet sound sources too. Additionally, you can select the Tone\u00a0circuit and add coloration to your signal by altering the impedance of the input transformer. An 80 Hz HP\u00a0and\u00a0a 2 kHz filter\u00a0are available and allow you to isolate your sound source and make sure it’s clean before recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ultimately, the MPX series gives you a classic, 50s rock tone with modern functionality. Further, the new MPX series from Warm Audio is capable of delivering heaps of clean gain while offering the ability to add\u00a0tonal color,\u00a0harmonics, and\u00a0saturation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
