The Global Recording Artist of the Year Award has been announced by the IFPI. Who else made the top 20 list of the most successful music artists of 2022?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n

The IFPI\u2019s <\/a>artist of the year 2022 has been revealed as Taylor Swift<\/strong>. The award is based on an artist\u2019s digital and physical music sales over the previous year, across all formats and it\u2019s the third time Swift <\/a>has been placed at number one in the Global Recording Artist Award\u2019s 10-year history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refreshingly, the list features superstars from all around the world. K Pop kings BTS <\/strong>come in at number two, followed by Drake <\/strong>and Puerto Rican phenomenon Bad Bunny<\/strong>. SEVENTEEN <\/strong>and Stray Kids <\/strong>appear at six and seven on the top 10, further proving the enduring popularity of South Korean music<\/a>, and Tawainese artist Jay Chou<\/strong> makes the list at number nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the IFPI<\/a>, \u201cthe chart is the only ranking to accurately measure consumption across all formats and all countries, weighted based on the relative value of each method of consumption.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IFPI represents the interests of the recording industry, campaigning and helping to generate commercial value for music<\/a> around the world through avenues like global data analysis, licensing, and litigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Executive Frances Moore said: \u201cIt is exciting to see this year\u2019s Global Recording Artist Chart reflect the increasingly diverse spectrum of music available to music fans today, with superstars from Latin America<\/a>, Taiwan and South Korea as well as the US, UK and Canada represented. Record companies continue to work diligently in every corner of the globe to find and develop global stars and build their successful careers for the long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing that\u2019s absent from the list? Non-male artists. Swift and Billie Eilish<\/strong> are the only women artists in the top 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
