Sennheiser state that they have improved the listening experience by improving transducer airflow and using a new, more refined voice coil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The result is a pair of headphones that offers “deeper, clearer bass” without compromising the sonic detail that the HD 600 series is respected for. Improved impulse response comes after reducing the weight of the voice coil, “bringing hyper-realistic textures to the forefront of any performance reproduction”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The listening experience is now both smoother and warmer than the original HD 660S headphones. But the impedance of the HD 660S2 headphones matches the impedance of HD 600 and HD 650 headphones (300 ohms), and this allows for low distortion and a dramatic listening experience at higher volume levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the forefront of Sennheiser’s goals with these cans are functionality and quality, and they’ve designed the HD 6602S with materials that “contribute to the hi-fi experience”. For instance, the plush earpads and cushy headband\u00a0padding place the drivers<\/a><\/strong><\/span> “at the optimal distance from the ear”. Consequently, the user gets an immersive soundstage packed with detail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, the new transducers lower the resonant frequency – down to 70 Hz from 110 Hz – as to provide for punchy kick drums and big bass. And the outer mesh grilles “are crafted to manage airflow at the ideal impedance”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While these new headphone promise to deliver a fantastic listening experience, they will be limited in noisy environments. Open-back headphones are optimal for listening in a quiet environment, and although the HD 660S2 headphones will rival open-back studio reference headphones, if you’re on the go a lot and rely on public transport, for instance, then closed-back headphones may be better suited to your lifestyle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
