While overall revenue was down year-over-year, one area that has continued to see growth is subscription services. Apple announced that they currently have more than 935 million subscribers across paid services like Apple Music, iCloud, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and Apple One. This is up 35 million from the previous quarter and up 150 million across the whole year. These subscription services brought in $20.8 billion, up 6% year-over-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We set an all-time revenue record of $20.8 billion in our Services business, and in spite of a difficult macroeconomic environment and significant supply constraints, we grew total company revenue on a constant currency basis. We generated $34 billion in operating cash flow and returned over $25 billion to shareholders during the quarter while continuing to invest in our long-term growth plans.<\/p><cite>Luca Maestri, CFO, Apple<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately Apple doesn&#8217;t break up the numbers by service, so we are unsure exactly how many subscribers Apple Music currently has. <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/apple-music-payments\/\">In June 2019, Apple announced they had surpassed 60 million subscribers on the music streaming service.<\/a> As of June last year, this number was predicted to be around 88 million by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessofapps.com\/data\/apple-music-statistics\/\">Business of Apps.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify recently posted their <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-q4-2022\/\">Q4 2022 results<\/a>, which announced they had exceeded <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-200-million-subscribers\/\">200 million paying subscribers<\/a>. <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/midia-q2-2022\/\">This is thought to place Apple in second place<\/a> ahead of Western stores Amazon Music, YouTube Music and Deezer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-apple-music\/\">Get your own music on all of the top music streaming services for free with RouteNote!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since launching in 2015, how many people are subscribed to Apple&#8217;s premium-only music streaming service Apple Music?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":94921,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[5802],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v18.4.1 -
