{"id":93864,"date":"2022-11-10T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=93864"},"modified":"2022-11-10T09:50:05","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T09:50:05","slug":"subscribed-to-youtube-premium-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/subscribed-to-youtube-premium-music\/","title":{"rendered":"How many people are subscribed to YouTube Premium and YouTube Music in 2022?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">YouTube just updated their subscriber statistics for their video and music streaming services, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube has just hit 80 million subscribers across YouTube Music and YouTube Premium (which includes YouTube Music), including those in trials. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-music-reach-a-milestone-with-50-million-subscribers\/\">This is up 30 million since the 50 million milestone hit last year.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-6-billion-to-music-industry\/\">Two months ago, YouTube announced it had paid over $6 billion to the music industry,<\/a> with 30% of that figure from user generated content. While YouTube are one of the more mature social media platforms, it&#8217;s clear they&#8217;re still seeing tremendous growth in paying subscribers, which is great news across the video and music industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subscriptions launched on YouTube seven years ago, with the launch of YouTube Premium, formerly YouTube Red, and YouTube Music at the end of 2015. Today, these subscriptions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong style=\"user-select: auto;\">YouTube Music<\/strong> &#8211; YouTube&#8217;s music streaming service, <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/streaming-services-with-the-most-tracks\/\">home to over 100 million official songs,<\/a> which when subscribed, unlocks ad-free music, background listening and offline playback.<\/li><li><strong style=\"user-select: auto;\">YouTube Premium<\/strong> &#8211; includes YouTube Music and makes all YouTube videos ad-free, with background listening and offline playback.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"544\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Screen_Shot_2022-11-09_at_1.40.25_PM_5XIF4.max-1000x1000-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-93865 lazyload\"\/><figcaption><em>Image Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.youtube\/news-and-events\/youtube-music-premium-80-million-lyor-cohen\/\">YouTube<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube&#8217;s Global Head of Music, Lyor Cohen (that&#8217;s the guy in the video below) said in a blog post:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Today I am ringing the bell: As of September 2022, YouTube surpassed 80 million Music and Premium subscribers globally, including those in trials. This is a 30 million member increase from the 50 million we announced last year, and a monumental moment for music on YouTube, our subscribers, and artists.
