You can buy tickets for upcoming concerts straight from Spotify now \u2013 with a few limitations. <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A new site has launched dedicated to Spotify <\/a>presale concert tickets. As Music Ally<\/em> point out<\/a>, for now the test site tickets.spotify.com<\/strong><\/a> will focus on exclusive tickets for a select number of Spotify artists before they go on general sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the tickets site is a test-run, the first selection of artists selling tickets through Spotify <\/a>was small and included Annie DiRusso<\/a> and TOKiMONSTA<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Spotify account is required to purchase tickets through the Spotify Tickets site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And once the pre-sale tickets <\/a>are gone, they\u2019re gone \u2013 you\u2019ll need to hit the Find Tickets button to buy tickets from one of Spotify\u2019s retail partners.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The feature is hosted by Spotify, but prices will be set by the organiser, although Spotify will charge a booking fee. There\u2019s no physical tickets. Purchases will be listed in the My Orders<\/a> section on the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is the launch interesting? Spotify Tickets is the first time Spotify has explored ticket sales without a partnership with a third party. Previously Spotify only worked with an intermediary like Ticketmaster<\/a>, See Tickets or Eventbrite, helping users to discover concert dates and linking out for purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music streaming platforms like Spotify give you access to more music than you could ever dream of, but there\u2019s no substitute for watching an artist perform live in front of you. Spotify already has a \u201cSpotify concert near me\u201d feature \u2013 its recently revamped Live Events Feed<\/a> built into the app that shows users upcoming shows from artists you\u2019ve listened to in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the new tickets site is in testing mode right now, for most events you still follow the link out from the show page on the Spotify Live Events Feed to an external site to purchase your tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
