But what about the year in music just gone?<\/h4>\n<p>The presenters at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/6music\">BBC Radio 6 Music<\/a>, &#8220;<i>The place for the best Alternative Music. From Indie Pop and Iconic Rock to Trip Hop, Electronica and Dance with great Archive Music Sessions, Live Music Concerts and Documentaries&#8221;,\u00a0<\/i>have released their album picks of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>6 Music&#8217;s head of programmes, Paul Rodgers said: &#8220;6 Music&#8217;s presenters are on a mission to seek out (and) share the very best new music. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/articles\/4ySmtJWFXVfwFwPJYqnzv8Z\/6-music-recommends-albums-of-the-year\">6 Music Recommends Albums of the Year 2015<\/a>\u00a0is an unmissable list that represents the wealth of brilliant new music from a range of artists and genres that can only be found on BBC Radio 6 Music, many of whom have played fantastic live sessions on the station this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the albums chosen by the stations 21 presenters as the best albums of 2015:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/0otAqZw8htTsGHfqR491Yh\">Sleaford Mods<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/5v5XTM8IhfQUzKgaarEpPK\">Key Markets<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3j.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;There&#8217;s never a clunker with these guys. Every groove and every vocal just\u00a0<strong>has a sound that I really enjoy. It&#8217;s good tight song writing. I like their energy, I like someone who keeps it real, and their people are charged up about them. The LA garage scene is the strongest it&#8217;s ever been as far as I can make out, and the crown kings are Thee Oh Sees. John Dwyer is a notoriously headstrong character. He doesn&#8217;t play the music industry game at all, and he makes music more thrilling than anyone else.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb\">Tame Impala<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/0rxKf57PZvWEoU8v3m5W2q\">Currents<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3f.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>Perfect 21st century psychedelia. Simultaneously the past and the future. Shimmering pop melodies from the hit parade of a parallel universe&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/5fScAXreYFnuqwOgBsJgSd\">The Charlatans<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/092DzkT8yzq5nhlpd1uKqt\">Modern Nature<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3p.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>This album was the first new record by the Charlatans since the death of the band&#8217;s brilliant drummer John Brooks, the first new Charlatans record for five years, and it&#8217;s bursting full of soul. Modern Nature&#8217;s a true return to their best form. The album features lashings of the band&#8217;s trademark hammond organ, breezy jangle guitars, and some of their best lyrics too &#8211; all fuelled up on funk.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/1bqX4oZFTWIQFk90AwKfnC\">Drenge<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/7eyAZD1dlFAJKkxGtofRST\">Undertow<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr2j.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>I went to watch Drenge live in April at Electric Ballroom and they just took the doors off. It\u2019s not just volume, it\u2019s not just that kind of muscular power, they\u2019ve also got the melody going on. Eoin\u2019s lyrics are very dark but in a very interesting way and it\u2019s such an uncompromising sound they\u2019ve created on this album.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/3RosuARXNIOfNYoJXR7fzA\">Tobias Jesso Jnr<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/7elNFxdWSjWvtUP1gqyQGV\">Goon<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr31.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>This is a really sad, beautiful, funny, witty, soulful pop record made quite in the style of Harry Neilson. If you\u2019re a fan of that classic pop music yearning of the mid\/late 60s then you will love Tobias Jesso Jnr. <\/strong><strong>I know he has played some huge shows here and he has a very committed fan base in the UK. For me this should be up there with the big stories of 2015. <\/strong><strong>He\u2019s a fantastic song writer, very smart, very witty and a beautiful voice as well.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/01Jsi7Q2a1GdLvNShahaj1\">Royal Headache<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/7LpcVaM4s3aEvbCSI5u7Xa\">High<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3b.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>I know nothing about them and I quite like that, in an era when we know too much about some bands and spend so much talking about where they\u2019re going, whether they\u2019re going to fit in, what they look like. So I have made no attempt to find out about this band as I think it might just ruin it for me. <\/strong><strong>It\u2019s a bit like some of the 80s records by people like The Creamers, The Mice and The Citizens from the early 80s. It fits into this anonymous but brilliant punk album.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/0mOPHkTHaD6cFTMODNBxA3\">Colleen<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/3eiRo1DsYQ8OCD5PUy5LH3\">Captain Of None<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3w.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>I&#8217;m fascinated by the studio techniques she&#8217;s used here. Sounds are being bounced all over the place. I think there&#8217;s a debt to King Tubby, but I&#8217;d have to ask her. There are moments of beauty and there&#8217;s also some hefty drumwork on This Hammer Breaks and she has a voice that floats in and out of all that. I will still be listening to this years from now.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/7IdPmzvB3PugXieZE9vS4S\">Girl Band<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/3rVfXtGiIeKX1nkHXhiN1D\">Holding Hands With Jamie<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3d.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>The reason I particularly love it is essentially because it\u2019s a very very noisy record and records haven\u2019t been that noisy for a while. It\u2019s a bit of a breath of fresh air. I managed to get them to sing at the 6 Music Festival and so it has been quite nice seeing them at the very start of their journey through to the release on Rough Trade and the album simply did not disappoint &#8211; it\u2019s a very wonderful thing.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/3qwabfaWewpfli7hMNM3O8\">Roisin Murphy<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/4FcK8q5oQnZZZCWkW8BlBS\">Hairless Toys<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr2z.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>I have just loved how Rosini Murphy\u2019s Hairless Toys album kept revealing itself throughout the year. It started with the delicate Gone Fishing, which appeared to announce the album was coming. Then the hypnotic, evocative Exploitation landing as the first single proper, with her as a tragic movie star in the video. And then I was lucky enough to see her live, which brought the album to life in a way I hadn\u2019t even imagined. 2015 was a good year, sound tracked by an incredible musical talent.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/2YZyLoL8N0Wb9xBt1NhZWg\">Kendrick Lamar<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/5uP9oyMK5lpzbB7K6UeT3X\">To Pimp A Butterfly<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3v.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>To Pimp A Butterfly\u2019 is the album that made a true hero of Kendrick Lamar. It\u2019s a record with real duality; ingenious, joyful and wildly creative, and simultaneously ferocious in Kendrick&#8217;s account of his personal struggle, and those of his community. Peerless.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/4sxtLUswMXhoDrec7zc6i0\">The Milk<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/30x03O0rU15NEpZqwRqtKd\">Favourite Worry<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3k.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h5>&#8220;<strong>These cats have something special. They just transformed on this record to this ill, sick group that is playing the music that I always love. These dudes were compelled to make the music that they make because they love it. These cats weren\u2019t trying to sell a million records. They were like I want to make a record because I want to make a record that sounds like this.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/3xByNj8XW17oW0wsJhgzYL\">Slaves<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/3Fb5mZyJn0HcP2RUtPVMXZ\">Are You Satisfied?<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr35.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>As soon as I heard the first few bars of Slaves first single I felt like I\u2019d been hit right between the ears. It was fast, furious, full energy from the first bar to the tidy ending. The album proved to be a driving, adrenalin fuelled set of perfect pop songs, and their live set at the 6 Music festival showcased it perfectly. They look good. They sound great. I know they have a future.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/6HQYnRM4OzToCYPpVBInuU\">Kamasi Washington<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/2j2q2ySuVk43eHB8wI5XQj\">The Epic<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr2t.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>This album represents two musical worlds meeting together to create an explosive sound of spiritual jazz alongside Brainfeeder reverberations. It would probably not have received the attention that it has done in previous years, but with 2015 being such a good year for improv and experimental sounds this release represents the zeitgeist so well. It&#8217;s been a great year for jazz.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Lance Ferguson<\/span> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/7KN4NyQhgnkvWECvthEKiN\">Black Feeling 3<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr40.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>This was just the perfect album for me in 2015. It sets out to be a collection of long lost nuggets from way back, but everyone knows that it is the New Zealand born Melbourne resident Lance Ferguson getting his pals together to cover some of his favourite songs. Above all, this guy has 100% pure unadulterated funk running though his veins and knows how to deliver grooves that are simply impossible to stay still to!&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/4sSSkVtrCTzENCgm2vokiY\">Roots Manuva<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/2ckG3GCP44lx0tGu0E3LWz\">Bleeds<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3g.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>It\u2019s been far too long since we last heard from Roots. He\u2019s one of the most interesting artists around. He\u2019s got this facility with words that just roll out of him and are completely unique turns of phrase. He should be recognised as a great British innovator and songwriter quite separate from being associated with the urban music scene. It\u2019s special, it\u2019s unique, no one else makes a noise like Roots Manuva and I think he\u2019s just one hit song away from breaking it like Dizzee Rascal.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/76ses8Vy3hRpmyHgWl8lQm\">Bachar Mar-Khalif\u00e9<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/3QX9xAnk6MOHx38PcHYz1e\">Ya Balad<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr2l.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>Occasionally you get a piece of recording that you assume is written centuries ago and this is one of <\/strong><strong>them. It\u2019s powerful, it seems to say a million things and it connects with you in some way and makes you ask questions. This is one of those records.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><u><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/0ZUyFEafMwocvApBjTXvdo\">This Is The Kit<\/a><\/u><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;<\/span>\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/6mNf6jxeTcRNi6uQLisaXS\">Bashed Out<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr2x.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/u><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>I\u2019ve been following This Is The Kit for years now. I just love the honesty and I love how she sings. She sings like a songbird. She very rarely slides her voice or if she does it\u2019s very deliberate. It usually jumps between notes like the trill of a birdsong. She comes up with beautiful, hypnotic music over which she puts simple gorgeous lyrics. She\u2019s very talented. It\u2019s a beautiful piece of work.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/2VZNmg4vCnew4Pavo8zDdW\">Max Richter<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/0NRiFdiO6WfhUnHiev18x3\">From Sleep<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr36.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>There are two versions of this album. There\u2019s the record version over two records and then there\u2019s also the whole eight hour version, which is designed for you not to listen to consciously but to drift through your consciousness while you\u2019re asleep. I feel that this record someone is acknowledging that it\u2019s great to be in touch with your consciousness, but let\u2019s also take note of the fact that sometimes we have to zone out, so that is why this album is perfect for me.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><u><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/1Ueg2NZOEdh8qwEfP8b53h\">Trembling Bells<\/a><\/u><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><u><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/1QnBm1IDlPveEiWEPhBVU1\">The Sovereign Self<\/a><br \/>\n<img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3s.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/u><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>They are so wild, they are so British, they are so exciting. They merge so many different and exciting forms of music that I love, from traditional English folk, to jazz, to prog, and the meld it together in a way that is not exclusive at all. It&#8217;s embracing, it&#8217;s colourful, it&#8217;s funny, they&#8217;re full of personalities &#8211; I love the whole kit and kaboodle of what they do.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/1LeVJ5GPeYDOVUjxx1y7Rp\">Unknown Mortal Orchestra<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/587Clxxo1i5flgjvS52bEC\">Multi Love<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><img class=\"rsp-img lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/976xn\/p039tr3y.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h5>\n<h6>&#8220;<strong>Unlike their previous album, which was informed by solitude, this one takes on the complications of relationships, trust and love but it still retained all the qualities that caught my ear in the first place. They\u2019ve kind of moved forward by taking tips from the past and putting their own unique spin on it. It is 21st century psychedelic funk rock and soul that\u2019s definitely worth your time and your money.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What were your album picks for 2015?
