{"id":92102,"date":"2022-07-07T14:02:32","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T13:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=92102"},"modified":"2022-07-07T14:02:32","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T13:02:32","slug":"lickd-to-provide-decentraland-vegas-city-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/lickd-to-provide-decentraland-vegas-city-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Music licensing firm Lickd to provide Decentraland\u2019s \u2018Vegas City\u2019 with its soundtrack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Image Credit: Yogonet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Music licensing firm Lickd has announced it&#8217;ll provide licensed music to Decentraland&#8217;s &#8216;Vegas City&#8217;.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions have been asked whether <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?s=licensing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">music licensing<\/a><\/strong><\/span> models are flexible enough to realise the potential that the Metaverse, and all of the start-ups behind it, can offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, Lickd &amp; Decetraland&#8217;s two-year deal ensures that one specific district within the Decentraland virtual world, Vegas City, can feature licensed music for a period of two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vegas City is one of the largest districts within Decentraland. It&#8217;s an open-source virtual world that&#8217;s built on the Ethereum Blockchain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First reported by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2022\/07\/05\/decentralands-vegas-city-gets-licensed-for-music-with-lickd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">music ally<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Lickd will provide background music within Vegas City via playlists and genre-based radio-stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decentraland already holds an annual music festival with virtual performances from artists. But now Lickd will provide background music in virtual venues and public spaces throughout the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>This is a huge step for Lickd both in terms of expanding our offering into the metaverse and for the\u00a0metaverse\u00a0itself in terms of being able to simplify the music licensing solution. We could not be happier about teaming up with Vegas City and taking another step towards becoming the best micro-licensing offering in the industry. We continue to deliver cutting edge solutions that benefit both the platforms and rights holders that we partner with and couldn\u2019t be more excited about the opportunities that this will create.\u201d<\/p><cite>Lickd CEO Paul Sampson <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Lickd has said they will select tracks from their catalogue of commercial music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company began by providing licensed music to YouTubers.
