{"id":91805,"date":"2022-05-31T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=91805"},"modified":"2022-05-31T14:06:54","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T13:06:54","slug":"youtubes-q1-2022-ad-revenue-was-more-than-double-spotifys-entire-revenue-for-the-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtubes-q1-2022-ad-revenue-was-more-than-double-spotifys-entire-revenue-for-the-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"YouTube&#8217;s Q1 2022 ad-revenue was more than double Spotify&#8217;s entire revenue for the quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Alphabet&#8217;s Q1 2022 financial results put YouTube&#8217;s ad-revenue at more than double Spotify&#8217;s ad and subscriber revenue for the quarter.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alphabet&#8217;s (YouTube&#8217;s parent company) Q1 2022 results show YouTube&#8217;s advertising revenues to be at $6.87 billion, up 14% year-over-year. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-q1-2021\/\">After even larger growth in 2021,<\/a> with $6.005 billion representing a 49% growth over the same quarter in 2020, thanks in part to the pandemic, analytics forecasts for this quarter were roughly $7.4 billion, with a growth of 25%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite missed expectations, YouTube&#8217;s ad-revenue alone in Q1 2022 were more than double Spotify&#8217;s entire revenue generated in the quarter, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/users-and-subscribers-on-spotify\/\">with results of \u20ac2.661 billion ($2.98bn),<\/a> across <em style=\"user-select: auto;\">Premium<\/em> subscriptions and ad-supported <em style=\"user-select: auto;\">Free<\/em> revenues. Spotify&#8217;s results were up 19% year-over-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alphabet didn&#8217;t announce YouTube revenue from subscribers in Q1 2022, however CFO Ruth Porat stated &#8220;substantial growth in YouTube non-advertising revenues driven by subscriber growth in YouTube Music and Premium and YouTube TV&#8221;.
