{"id":91355,"date":"2022-04-21T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=91355"},"modified":"2022-04-22T11:41:45","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T10:41:45","slug":"spotify-creator-fund-greenroom-cancelled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-creator-fund-greenroom-cancelled\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotify cancels fund for creators on Greenroom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Image Credit: <a href=\"http:\/\/spotify.com\">Spotify<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span style=\"color:#3366FF\">As live audio app Greenroom relaunches as Spotify Live, the plug has been pulled on the live audio Creator Fund by Spotify.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/can-i-upload-my-music-to-spotify-yes-and-its-free\/\">Spotify <\/a>launched <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-launch-greenroom\/\">Greenroom <\/a>in June last year, it also announced a Creator Fund for aspiring content creators on the live audio app. Information on how much the fund would pay out, and who would be chosen to benefit from it, were not forthcoming, and now the opportunity has been withdrawn altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news flew under the radar and prospective fund applicants were informed of the cancellation by email from <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-customize-your-spotify-artist-profile\/\">Spotify<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/spotify-greenroom-creator-fund.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-91357 lazyload\" width=\"572\" height=\"421\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Creator funds are a clever way of enticing users to try new features and ensure a platform is filled with content. For music artists and other creators, they&#8217;re a much-appreciated extra form of <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-royalties-music-platforms-collect\/\">revenue<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/using-youtube-shorts-as-an-artist\/\">YouTube Shorts<\/a> fund is an example, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/10923658?hl=en\">rewarding creators<\/a> who make engaging short videos on YouTube, an area the platform is currently keen to promote. The Greenroom Creator Fund however never got off the ground, and it\u2019s unclear if any money was paid out to creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Greenroom app, Spotify\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/does-anyone-still-use-clubhouse\/\">Clubhouse <\/a>rival with \u201crooms\u201d hosted by speakers talking in real time, had an uninspiring start. Users didn\u2019t flock to the new audio platform, and Spotify subsequently rebranded it as <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-is-spotify-live\/\">Spotify Live <\/a>and brought the platform into the main app. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-wp-embed is-provider-routenote-blog wp-block-embed-routenote-blog\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"mdkk6Vsfpp\"><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-is-spotify-live\/\">What is Spotify Live? Spotify Greenroom rebrands&#8221; &#8212; RouteNote Blog\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/what-is-spotify-live\/embed\/#?secret=mdkk6Vsfpp\" data-secret=\"mdkk6Vsfpp\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No replacement for the Creator Fund has been announced now the live audio app has a new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify Live offers a new way for artists to connect with their fans on <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/a-guide-to-getting-your-music-noticed-on-spotify\/\">Spotify<\/a>.
