Users in the US can now buy the new device that makes playing Spotify in-car easy.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-officially-launch-car-thing-their-in-car-music-and-podcast-player\/\">a little while coming<\/a>, but Spotify Car Thing has now launched in the US. Previously <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-limited-release-of-car-thing\/\">limited to a waitlist<\/a>, Spotify\u2019s in-car music and podcast player is now available for anyone to purchase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify calls Car Thing a \u201cseamless in-car audio experience,\u201d and said it takes away the distraction of using your phone to listen to music whilst driving. Users can interact with the smart player on their dash using touch, voice and controls. To use the device, you\u2019ll need a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-much-is-spotify-premium\/\">Spotify Premium<\/a> account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Car Thing features include saying \u201cHey Spotify\u201d to activate voice commands for hands-free music. Users can swipe and tap the display to select tracks or podcasts, and scroll through playlists and <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/biggest-artists-on-spotify\/\">artists <\/a>using the large dial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Meet Car Thing from Spotify\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uVdED-MA5FI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presets let the user quickly choose from four shortcuts to their favourite <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-music-on-spotify-playlists\/\">playlists <\/a>or podcasts. Spotify has made sure turning the device off again is easy too \u2013 vital for concentrating in-car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/put-my-music-on-spotify\/\">Spotify<\/a>, testers said that the interface and voice commands made choosing what to play easy. The player was developed to work with a variety of cars, whatever model or year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1890\" height=\"805\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/the-spotify-car-thing.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-90611 lazyload\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So how much does Car Thing cost? Spotify is selling the in-car player for<strong> $89.99 <\/strong>in the US, including standard shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-leak-images-of-car-thing-again-their-in-car-music-player\/\">Different designs and versions<\/a> have come and gone, but somehow the name has stuck. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/changes-to-spotify-for-artists-analytics\/\">Spotify <\/a>has been working on Car Thing since 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1120\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/the-spotify-car-thing-how-to-get.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-90612 size-full lazyload\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Car Thing needs a 12V power outlet and uses Bluetooth or AUX cable to connect to the car. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new release still isn\u2019t in a final form, as Spotify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/services-and-software\/features\/spotifys-car-thing-is-about-to-face-the-music\/\">said <\/a>an update will allow control over other audio apps.
