One creative way to build connections with fans and peers in the music business is to take part in a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/social-networking-for-musicians\/\">social media<\/a> takeover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>What is a social media takeover?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A social media takeover is when someone, in this case a music artist, takes control of a brand\u2019s social media account for a set period. It\u2019s sort of like being on work experience in social networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social takeovers usually take place for a working day, or afternoon. Once you start, you\u2019ll be in control of everything that gets posted. We\u2019re talking <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-instagram-story\/\">Instagram<\/a> stories and posts, live-tweeting an event, or posting <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/10-ways-to-be-successful-as-a-musician-on-tiktok-in-2021\/\">TikToks<\/a>. Usually the takeover will be of one platform account only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>Why are social media takeovers good for artists?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Takeovers are a chance to get out of your own social media bubble and get creative. You can show your personality to a whole new audience and promote your music in fun new ways. Above all, you\u2019ll gather new followers for your own <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/is-tiktok-the-future-of-the-music-industry\/\">social media<\/a> who will hopefully turn into big fans of your music. You might want to choose the day of a show, release day, or just set aside time to build a track from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although, if you\u2019re planning on sitting in front of a DAW all day, it\u2019s a good idea to mix it up a bit. Make sure your content isn\u2019t in one static place \u2013 head out and get a coffee at least to give the viewer a change of scene, or pepper your content with previously shot <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-make-a-perfect-music-video\/\">videos<\/a> and images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treat the account as your own for a day \u2013 but perhaps with more of a professional sheen, depending on which brand you\u2019re working with.
