Next up may be Spotify. The new feature was first spotted by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrismessina\">Chris Messina<\/a>, a beta tester of Spotify for iOS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Not only that, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Spotify?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Spotify<\/a> Discover is basically a pared down version of a TikTok-style feed of vertical music videos (likely using their canvas format) that you can like or skip.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NewSpotify?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NewSpotify<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hpOEZ8v9bl\">pic.twitter.com\/hpOEZ8v9bl<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \u02d7\u02cf\u02cb Chris Messina \u02ce\u02ca\u02d7 (@chrismessina) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrismessina\/status\/1463542273216446472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Discover tab can be found in the navigation bar at the bottom, between Home and Search. Tapping the icon takes you right to the feed. As shown in the video above, Discover is a vertical feed of music videos, that much like TikTok can be liked or scrolled past to skip. Messina told <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/11\/24\/spotify-tests-a-tiktok-like-vertical-video-feed-in-its-app\/\">TechCrunch<\/a>, tapping the three dots to the right of the heart icon pulls up the full song. It seems the videos are based on Spotify Canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-are-testing-video-album-artworks\/\">Canvas was first introduced by Spotify in 2019.<\/a> The feature replaces the static album artwork with a 3-8 second video loop on the Now Playing screen of the mobile app. Spotify says Canvas increases streams, shares, playlist adds, saves and profile visits among music with looping videos. With the feed only bringing up tracks with Canvas, <a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-canvas-is-now-available-for-all-routenote-artists\/\">it&#8217;s now more important than ever to upload a video to accompany your track,<\/a> as not only might it increase key metrics for those listening, it could also introduce a whole new audience to your music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"user-select: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/11\/24\/spotify-tests-a-tiktok-like-vertical-video-feed-in-its-app\/\">TechCrunch<\/a> contacted Spotify for further information on the feature, asking whether they plan to roll the feature out further, whether it will be available for iOS and Android, which markets they&#8217;re planning, and more. Spotify declined to share any details on the new feature, but confirmed via a statement that they were exploring the idea of a vertical video feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We don\u2019t have any further news to share at this time.<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/11\/24\/spotify-tests-a-tiktok-like-vertical-video-feed-in-its-app\/\">Spotify spokesperson to TechCrunch<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>As TikTok is with video discovery, Spotify Discover could be a great way for listeners to find new music, and for artists to increase their audience. The feature is still in testing and there&#8217;s no guarantee it&#8217;ll end up in the final app update. This isn&#8217;t the first social media influenced feature we&#8217;ve seen from Spotify.
