Now that the summer festival season<\/a> has ended \u2013 in the northern hemisphere at least \u2013 so will most outside concerts<\/a>. Unfortunately the pandemic isn\u2019t over, and outdoor events are considered safer than indoor crowds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there are ways to make your indoor concert COVID-safe.<\/a> Whether you’re hosting a festival in several venues across town or a gig <\/a>in your living room, check out the suggestions for hosting a safe indoor concert we’ve gathered below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open some windows<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Make sure the venue is well ventilated. Opening windows and doors helps keep airflow moving through, spreading out any virus particles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limit numbers<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Keeping the concert small lessens the amount of contact between different households. Equally, you could choose a larger venue \u2013 a bigger venue <\/a>means better ventilation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If possible, hosting two concerts <\/a>would be safer than one with the same amount of audience members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ask for proof of a negative COVID test at the gig<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

COVID passports are a touchy subject, but consider requesting everyone attending takes a COVID test <\/a>on the day \u2013 band and all \u2013 to help reassure concert-goers that everyone is staying safe. Temperature checks on the door are another possible measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a similar theme, you could make the concert only open to vaccinated <\/a>attendees. That\u2019s a move guaranteed to ruffle some feathers \u2013 but it\u2019s your show, and you call the shots. (Pun intended.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switch to a seated show<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re worried about close contact in a crowd, consider making the gig a seated show. The less people moving around the room passing each other in close proximity, the better. Make sure there\u2019s also visible directions and signs around the venue to help everyone social distance on their way to the bar or bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
