Beating Imagine Dragons’ record 87 weeks, The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ is coming up to two years without leaving the Billboard Hot 100.<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

After hitting a record-breaking 88 consecutive weeks, Blinding Lights by The Weeknd<\/a> becomes the longest-running song in the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>. Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive<\/a> previously held the record in 2012 – 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinding Lights<\/em> was released way in November 2019 on XO\/Republic Records, debuting in the Hot 100 at number 11 on December 14th 2019. The track spent the first of its four weeks at number 1 in April 4th 2020. Today, in its 88th week, Blinding Lights<\/em> sits at number 18, showing it’s here to stay. Along the way, The Weeknd broke several other records, such as the most time spent in the Hot 100’s top 5 (43 weeks), top 10 (57 weeks), top 20 (79 weeks) and top 40 (84 weeks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinding Lights<\/em> is one of three Hot 100 numbers 1s from The Weeknd’s 2020 album After Hours<\/a>. After becoming the first song to spend a whole year in the Hot 100’s top 10, The Weeknd told Billboard: “After Hours was always meant to be a very personal project. It’s a story I had to tell. The fact I’ve been able to tell it with the world listening is incredible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, this week’s Hot 100 sees a new entry from The Weeknd’s new single Take My Breath<\/a>, which debuted at number 6, becoming the artist’s 13th top 10 hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
