You may have forgotten that particular turbulent period \u2013 it\u2019s been quite the year. Now President Joe Biden has overturned Trump\u2019s executive orders against <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-your-music-on-tiktok-and-earn-money-for-free\/\">TikTok<\/a> and ByteDance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The saga began in August 2020 when the ex-president sought to impose a ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/can-you-learn-music-production-from-tiktok\/\">TikTok<\/a>, citing national security concerns \u2013 that the Chinese government could access TikTok\u2019s user-data with nefarious intent. TikTok and ByteDance were threatened with being <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/tiktok-will-be-banned-on-us-app-stores-from-sunday\/\">blocked from being downloaded<\/a> from app stores in the US and with a ban on processing transactions from US citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A further executive order threatened a complete ban if TikTok wasn\u2019t sold to an <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/tiktok-propose-oracle-for-trump-mandated-us-handover\/\">American company<\/a>. A US court <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/judge-blocks-trumps-tiktok-download-ban-in-the-u-s\/\">blocked all the orders,<\/a> pausing the ban, and the app remained online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/joe-biden-and-kamala-harris-release-their-official-inauguration-spotify-playlist\/\">Biden<\/a> has lifted the threat of a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/see-how-many-videos-used-music-tiktok\/\">TikTok<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/tiktoks-parent-company-bytedance-generated-17bn-in-2019-more-than-youtubes-ad-revenue\/\">ByteDance<\/a> ban, the President has separately ordered a review of security concerns around the apps, as the White House is still concerned about the use of data collected from users by the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The removal of the TikTok ban is good news for artists who have made their music available to be used in the short videos on the app. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/is-tiktok-the-future-of-the-music-industry\/\">TikTok<\/a> has over 100 million users in the US <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/tiktok-hits-2-billion-downloads-and-its-not-slowing-down\/\">alone<\/a> \u2013 a huge potential audience if videos featuring your song go viral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How you can get your own music on TikTok for FREE\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5KJhTFAWWXM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/\">RouteNote distributes music to TikTok for free.
