{"id":85671,"date":"2021-06-03T11:58:54","date_gmt":"2021-06-03T10:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=85671"},"modified":"2021-06-03T11:58:54","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T10:58:54","slug":"netflix-bmg-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/netflix-bmg-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix and BMG ink long-term music publishing deal outside the U.S"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Image credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Netflix<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><span style=\"color: #3366FF\">The video streaming giant Netflix has struck a long-term music publishing deal with BMG.<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Netflix has struck a long-term exclusive agreement with BMG for the management and administration of its music publishing rights worldwide outside the U.S. This is a continuation of a deal that was signed back in 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the arrangement, BMG will serve as Netflix\u2019s exclusive music partner outside the U.S and will handle rights and royalties for its original films and series. BMG\u2019s global rights and royalties team will work with Netflix to ensure efficient registration of music on its service, fast-track international royalty payments and identify new approaches to income tracking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Netflix will also be under BMG\u2019s cloud-based rights management platform, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to optimise matching.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the agreement Netflix\u2019s Vice President, Music Legal, Dominic Houston said: \u201cBMG has been an outstanding partner to us \u2014 both a trusted third party and an innovator in the administration of music rights. This deal will allow us to continue to provide exceptional production support to our creators, while bringing the very best music to our members around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch commented: \u201cWhen the most technologically savvy entertainment company in the world chooses your platform to manage its precious music rights, that\u2019s an endorsement.
