However, a survey by concert recommendation platform <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-promote-your-music-and-gigs-for-free\/\">Bandsintown<\/a> shows that the world opening up again doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that live streams will be a forgotten relic of the COVID era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/livestreaming-your-gig-10-tips-for-musicians-playing-online-in-2021\/\">Live streams have been a lifeline<\/a> for musicians during years of lockdowns, offering a way to connect with fans whilst gigs have been out of bounds. In March 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/bandsintown-are-live-streaming-concerts-on-twitch-all-day-every-day\/\">Bandsintown<\/a> began promoting live streams on the platform, a change from previously only tracking forthcoming live concerts. Just over a year later and the platform has marketed over 79,500 live streams played by more than 22,000 artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest survey of artists and fans by Bandsintown <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hypebot.com\/hypebot\/2021\/04\/bandsintown-survey-shows-live-streams-will-stay-popular-post-pandemic-with-both-fans-and-artists-infographic.html\">reveals<\/a> live streaming is here for the long haul. Over 50% of fans surveyed said they\u2019d continue to watch <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/facebooks-livestreams-can-now-be-ticketed-events-so-creators-can-earn\/\">live streams<\/a> after in-person shows are back, and 85% of artists said they\u2019d keep playing live streamed shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"251\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/bandsintown-251x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84702 size-full lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/bandsintown-251x1024.png 251w, https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/bandsintown-110x450.png 110w, https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/bandsintown-376x1536.png 376w, https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/bandsintown.png 392w\" sizes=\"auto\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of fans surveyed, over the past year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>86% watched one or more music livestreams<\/li><li>31% watched over seven shows<\/li><li>62% watched a paid-for live stream<\/li><li>55% will keep live streaming once concerts return<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Of artists surveyed, over the past year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>70% have played a livestream gig<\/li><li>41% now live stream more than once a month<\/li><li>85% will continue live streaming even once they can play live<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Image Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bandsintown.com\/\">Bandsintown<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The most interesting part of the stats is the continuing appeal of live streaming. Musicians may perhaps have enjoyed the closer connection to fans; the convenience of <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-go-live-on-tiktok\/\">hitting the live button<\/a> versus organising a gig; the reduced costs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans, too, like the ease of not having to physically attend a gig. A <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/seth-lakeman-interview\/\">live stream<\/a> lets people experience a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/flaming-lips-socially-distance-gigs-by-putting-fans-inside-balls\/\">gig<\/a> they wouldn\u2019t otherwise be able to attend due to geographical, monetary or accessibility restraints, and stumble upon new acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s hard to imagine fans preferring to stream a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-starts-showing-upcoming-virtual-events-on-the-app\/\">virtual event<\/a> on their devices, on the sofa they\u2019ve spent the past year stuck on, over seeing a live band.
