{"id":84256,"date":"2021-03-05T18:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=84256"},"modified":"2021-03-05T14:44:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T14:44:22","slug":"david-crosby-sells-his-entire-music-catalogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/david-crosby-sells-his-entire-music-catalogue\/","title":{"rendered":"David Crosby Sells His Entire Music Catalogue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Image credit: Scott Dudelson\/Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><span style=\"color: #3366FF\"> After expressing an interest in selling his publishing rights Crosby has now done so to Iconic Artists Group.<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>David Crosby<\/strong> has become the latest artist from a particular era to sell his publishing rights to his catalog of music. <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/why-music-legends-are-selling-their-publishing-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crosby now joins artists such as <strong>Mick Fleetwood<\/strong>, <strong>Bob Dylan<\/strong>, <strong>The Beach Boys<\/strong>, and <strong>Neil Young<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deal was struck with Irving Azoff\u2019s newly formed Iconic Artists Group, which recently <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/the-beach-boys-are-the-latest-artist-to-sell-their-intellectual-property\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acquired all the rights and intellectual property to&nbsp; <strong>The Beach Boys<\/strong> brand.<\/a> The amount of the deal has not been disclosed, but the acquisition includes the records and publishing rights of everything that Crosby has recorded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">The singer had already tweeted about his interest in selling his publishing rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am selling mine also &#8230;I can\u2019t work &#8230;and streaming stole my record money &#8230;I have a family and a mortgage and I have to take care of them so it\u2019s my only option ..I\u2019m sure the others feel the same <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EXWHR2v6iq\">https:\/\/t.co\/EXWHR2v6iq<\/a><\/p>&mdash; David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thedavidcrosby\/status\/1335980504735072256?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 7, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Crosby had already expressed an interest in selling his rights, in fact, he felt he needed to, to survive. Speaking on the deal he said: \u201cGiven our current inability to work live, this deal is a blessing for me and my family and I do believe these are the best people to do it with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irving Azoff also spoke on the acquisition and his respect for Crosby saying: \u201cI\u2019ve known David as a friend and have admired him as a great artist since our earliest days at Geffen Roberts Management shortly after I moved to Los Angeles.\u201d His statement continued, \u201cThis is an incredible time to be involved with David and his tremendous catalog of music.
