Staff at Spotify will now be able to work from wherever they\u2019d like&#8230; and keep their salaries.<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Spurred on by the pandemic, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/can-i-upload-my-music-to-spotify-yes-and-its-free\/\">Spotify<\/a> are now implementing a \u2018Work From Anywhere\u2019 policy for their staff. The company was already re-evaluating the way their workforce operated before Covid-19 hit and forced staff to <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-work-from-home-effectively\/\">work remotely,<\/a> discussing the future of work and what an inclusive, flexible workplace looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-customize-your-spotify-artist-profile\/\">Spotify<\/a> staff will now be encouraged to elect a <a href=\"https:\/\/hrblog.spotify.com\/2021\/02\/12\/introducing-working-from-anywhere\/?subscribe=success#blog_subscription-3\">\u2018Work Mode\u2019.<\/a> That means they can specify whether they\u2019d prefer to work at home or in the office \u2013 or a combination of the two, and where in the world they want that to be. Staff can even work from a different country to the main offices in the US, as long as they\u2019re not in an awkward time zone. And they can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/spotify-unveils-new-remote-work-option-for-all-employees-2021-2?r=US&amp;IR=T\">keep the same salaries as beforehand.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The streaming giant has set out a few points to justify the decision:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Work isn\u2019t something our people come to the office for, it\u2019s something they&nbsp;<em>do.<\/em><\/li><li>Effectiveness can\u2019t be measured by the number of hours people spend in an office.&nbsp; Instead, giving people the freedom to choose where they work will boost effectiveness.<\/li><li>Giving our people more flexibility will support a better work-life balance and also help tap into new talent pools while keeping our existing band members.<\/li><li>A distributed-first structure will challenge us to improve our communication and collaboration practices, processes, and tools.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The move suggests that the future will see <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/whats-next-for-spotify-tune-in-to-their-global-stream-on-event-to-find-out\/\">Spotify<\/a> reassessing the use of their New York and San Francisco offices, too. In a statement the company said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>The ultimate goal of our new design approach is to ensure that employees have a place where they can focus, collaborate, and create \u2014whether that\u2019s at a desk, in a conference room, or in cafe spaces.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Just as the Covid-19 pandemic has <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/music-by-numbers-2020-report\/\">completely upended the music world<\/a>, so too has the world of corporate work been rendered unrecognisable. For many companies, this has prompted a new interrogation of whether the way workplaces functioned beforehand unlocked the best of their staff&#8217;s potential.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No more commute!
