Now that the finish line of 2020 is in sight, at RouteNote we\u2019re looking back over this endless year and pulling together some of the highlights from the music world. The Weeknd\u2019s \u2018Blinded By the Light\u2019 has taken the top spot of the biggest Number 1 songs of the year, According to the UK Big Top 40. <\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pop dominates the Official Big Top 40\u2019s list of songs<\/a> that were downloaded, streamed, and played on the radio the most in the UK this year, hosted by Heart FM and Capital FM. In another eyebrow-raiser with regards to The Weeknd\u2019s<\/b> Grammy\u2019s<\/a> snub, his single ‘Blinding Lights’<\/a> tops the list, having been in the chart every week this year, not leaving the Top 20 since it first went to Number 1. The song was also MTV\u2019s most-played video of 2020<\/a>. Lady Gaga<\/b> features twice, alone with ‘Stupid Love’ and alongside Ariana Grande<\/b> on \u2018Rain On Me\u2019; there are four collaborations<\/a> in total amongst the list, including the unlikely duo of teenager Jawsh 685<\/b> and opportunistic TikTok<\/a> emperor Jason Derulo<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
