{"id":82060,"date":"2020-12-19T12:00:59","date_gmt":"2020-12-19T12:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=82060"},"modified":"2022-02-22T16:43:16","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T16:43:16","slug":"animated-album-art-comes-to-apple-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/animated-album-art-comes-to-apple-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Animated album art comes to Apple Music"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/@brett_jordan?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\">Image Credit: Brett Jordan<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span style=\"color:#3366FF\"> Apple Music are pulling a Spotify and rolling out animated album art.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A cool new feature debuted in the last Apple update.&nbsp;Animated playlist covers were already available with the release of iOS 14, but the newest development gives <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/can-i-upload-my-music-to-spotify-yes-and-its-free\/\">Spotify<\/a> the side-eye by adding animation above albums in <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-apple-music-for-free-2\/\">Apple Music<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul McCartney\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/music.apple.com\/us\/album\/mccartney-iii\/1536066862\">solo album<\/a>, <em>McCartney III<\/em>, was one of the first albums to have the new feature, which rolled out with iOS 14.3 and macOS 11.1 updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The animated element adds a fun extra dimension of creativity, and could also mean that <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-do-i-edit-my-artist-profile-on-apple-music\/\">Apple Music<\/a> are looking towards more video content, like Spotify. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmusicnews.com\/2020\/12\/11\/apple-music-animated-album-art-coming-soon\/\">Both companies<\/a> are chasing <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-youtube-music-free\/\">YouTube<\/a>, with its monopoly on music <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/join-routenotes-youtube-network\/\">videos<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s next? It remains to be seen if Apple will go full Spotify and extend the animation option to users with their own version of <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-canvas-is-now-available-for-all-routenote-artists\/\">Spotify Canvas<\/a>.
