The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has reported that recording sales dropped 13.9 percent in 2010 by value (complete PDF <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aria.com.au\/documents\/ARIARelease-2010wholesalesalesfigures17Feb2011.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>). \u00a0Physical unit sales tanked by 19.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The downside to the numbers is that ARIA reports in the same way as Nielsen Soundscan and RIAA, that is counting any transaction as one &#8211;  album, download, ringtone, whatever.<\/p>\n<p>However, on the upside &#8220;Australians are consuming more music than ever  before,&#8221; ARIA chief executive Dan Rosen declared.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6168 lazyload\" title=\"aria2010\" src=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/aria2010-577x256.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"577\" height=\"256\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/aria2010-577x256.jpg 577w, https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/aria2010.jpg 858w\" sizes=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems like the music industry in Australia is in complete free fall.
