We all cried out in protest when Apple did it, by the time Google did it no-one cared. Will Samsung be the nail in the coffin of the 3.5mm jack?<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n

Rumours of Samsung doing an ‘Apple’ with headphone jacks in their devices started in 2016<\/a>, not long after Apple set the way to frustrate music listeners. Last year when they announced the G<\/a>alaxy S9 came with a headphone jack<\/a>, we thought Samsung were still on-side with the 3.5mm jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, it looks like it’s finally happening. We have the first image of Samsung’s dongle that plugs into the USB-C slot and opens up a 3.5mm connection for standard headphones and other audio jack connections. It looks exactly like the dreaded photo Apple unveiled (but with USB-C)<\/em> as the solution to getting rid of the audio jack despite nearly all headphones and set-ups using it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dongle comes included with the new Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus. Whilst Apple included jack dongles with their devices when they first made the switch, you now have to buy it separately if you want to use standard headphones on iPhone or Apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company hasn’t stated that this is the end of the jack port, but as the outliers clinging to the port-hole it’s reasonable to assume this marks Samsung’s move away from headphone jacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
