Since then eyebrows have remained raised as to when they might officially launch their music streaming platform in the country, with their Mumbai staff <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-are-planning-an-expansion-into-india\/\">suggesting it would happen in the first 5 months of 2019<\/a> at the start of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it seems we may have a set date, as one user noticed a hidden update to Spotify&#8217;s terms of service in India. The new Terms and Conditions of Use say that they will go into effect in the country on January 31st. Spotify haven&#8217;t confirmed they will launch in India on this date but the terms highly suggest that the 31st will be the drop date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Spotify has accidentally confirmed an India launch date of 31st January on its Terms &amp; Conditions page for India. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uMFGByhuKf\">pic.twitter.com\/uMFGByhuKf<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Aroon Deep (@AroonDeep) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AroonDeep\/status\/1086222102523342848?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 18, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst Spotify are undoubtedly streaming leaders in Western countries like the US and UK, they face much larger rivals in India. At the end of 2018 India&#8217;s two most popular services, <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/saavn-becomes-1-billion-jiosaavn-to-lead-music-streaming-in-india\/\">JioMusic and Saavn<\/a>, combined to become  the most valuable music streaming service in South Asia: <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-jiosaavn-for-free\/\">JioSaavn<\/a>. The streaming giant now boasts over 250 million listeners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country has a population of over 1.3 billion and as it increasingly adopts music streaming it is becoming a valuable target for music streaming services.
