YouTube Kids was launched 2 years ago as a hub for children to explore the giant video site without the worry of inappropriate content. With 8 million weekly viewers and over 30 billion videos streamed through the app since it’s launch it’s been a hit with kids and parents alike, so YouTube are making the experience even better.<\/p>\n
YouTube’s ‘Original Content’ team, headed by Susanne Daniels, plan to add four new original series for kids to YouTube Red. The series will feature YouTube stars like DanTDM, Joe and Cody from The Atlantic Craft, tween music act L2M and Fruit Ninja. This is the first investment in original programming for young audiences on YouTube and the series are planned to launch this Spring with more shows coming throughout the year.<\/p>\n
The shows already revealed are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hyperlinked:\u00a0<\/strong>This series is inspired by\u00a0a true story and stars music sensation L2M. It follows five girls as they come together to create their own website by girls for girls. They also must navigate everyday tween issues involving friends and relationships.<\/p>\n DanTDM Creates A Big Scene:\u00a0<\/strong>Catch DanTDM and his lively group of animated friends as they battle mayhem and misadventure to keep their brand new live show on the road. Each episode follows their behind-the-scenes exploits as they learn new skills, overcome challenges and find that putting on an epic show isn\u2019t quite as easy as it looks.<\/p>\n The Kings of Atlantis:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cThe Kings of Atlantis\u201d\u00a0is an epic animated series that follows two young monarchs \u2014Cody and Joe\u2014 in the vast underwater city of Atlantis as they seek to overthrow the brutal usurper of their kingdom, reclaim their birthright, and protect their people from his cruel reign.<\/p>\n Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force:\u00a0<\/strong>Four Fruit Ninjas set up a juice stand as a front for the messiest secret service in the world. The new Fruit Ninja characters\u2014Seb, Niya, Peng and Ralph\u2014come together to fight the evil forces of Durian Grey and the Deep Fried Samurai. They will use their Juice Jitsu skills (and perhaps some help from their own samurai) to prevail.<\/p>\n As well as a bunch of new original shows for kids Google are bringing YouTube Kids to Smart TVs so that children can safely watch YouTube on the big screen. Whilst there’s no release date YouTube say that it is coming “soon” for most internet-connected LG TVs and Samsung Smart TVs.<\/p>\n YouTube said in a post celebrating YouTube Kids’ second birthday: “From engaging new shows to being able to watch in your living room, our 2nd birthday is shaping up to be a memorable one.
