{"id":108844,"date":"2026-10-07T11:39:28","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T10:39:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=108844"},"modified":"2026-10-07T11:39:30","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T10:39:30","slug":"google-pixel-buds-update-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/google-pixel-buds-update-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Google is giving its Pixel Buds a major update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Google is rolling out a major Pixel Buds update with smarter noise cancellation, Gemini controls, Live Translate and more.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Google is giving its <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/google-pixel-buds-pro-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pixel Buds Pro 2<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/google-pixel-buds-2a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pixel Buds 2a<\/a> a sizeable software update, adding some <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/googlepixelbuds\/thread\/470579319?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">major new features<\/a> to its existing earbuds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We don\u2019t often see tech companies give their existing products new capabilities, making this move an impressive one from Google. It\u2019s particularly notable when you consider that the updates are coming to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which launched over two years ago now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>So, what\u2019s new?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest audio upgrade is Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation, exclusive to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. It automatically adjusts noise cancellation based on how well the earbuds are sealed in your ears, helping compensate when they shift slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google is also bringing Gemini voice controls to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a. Users can ask Gemini to switch on Active Noise Cancellation, adjust their EQ or enable touch controls without having to reach for their phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few other useful additions too. Enhanced Live Translate lets users start translating with a touch of their earbuds, making on-the-go translation easier than ever. Meanwhile, Tap to Mute lets Pixel phone users mute and unmute their microphone directly from their buds with a simple tap.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pixel Buds can also now automatically pause playback when a connected Pixel Watch detects that the user has fallen asleep. The sleep detection also turns off touch gestures and silences notifications so your sleep can continue uninterrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Wrapping up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s encouraging to see Google continuing to add meaningful features to hardware that has already been on the market for two years. As headphones and earbuds become more software-driven, this proves that their capabilities can continue to improve long after they first launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pixel Buds update is rolling out with software release_6.144 for your Pixel Buds.
