YouTube is giving creators more ways to test, optimise and expand their videos, from dynamic thumbnails and video A\/B testing to live auto-dubbing.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

YouTube is rolling out a new wave of creator tools that could change how artists approach video promotion on the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announced at Made on YouTube<\/a> on the 23rd of September, the updates include AI-powered feedback in YouTube Studio, dynamic thumbnails, video A\/B testing, live auto-dubbing and new ways for creators to collaborate. For musicians already using YouTube to promote releases, connect with fans or build an audience, there are several updates worth paying attention to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouTube is expanding its video optimisation tools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest updates is the expansion of YouTube Studio\u2019s AI tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ask Studio can give creators personalised feedback on draft videos based on their previous content and user comments. It can suggest alternative titles and thumbnail options, analyse channel analytics and offer advice on how to improve a video’s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As TechCrunch reports<\/a>, the feature is also expanding to YouTube’s mobile apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new tools aren’t limited to videos that haven’t been published yet, either. With a creator’s permission, Ask Studio can monitor thumbnail performance across their existing catalogue and create tests to refine older videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That gives creators another way to revisit their back catalogue and experiment with how existing content is presented, rather than focusing entirely on new uploads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\/B testing is coming to video<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

YouTube already lets creators A\/B test titles and thumbnails. Now, the platform is expanding that functionality to the videos themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2027, creators will be able to upload and test three different cuts for Shorts, allowing them to compare different versions of the same content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As TechCrunch<\/a> reports, YouTube says creators have already carried out more than 40 million title and thumbnail experiments since the testing feature was introduced in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new video testing tools add another variable to that process. Creators could, for example, experiment with different openings or edits and see which version performs best with viewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s part of a broader move towards giving creators more data-driven ways to decide how their content is packaged and presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouTube is also introducing Dynamic Thumbnails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than choosing one thumbnail for a video, creators will be able to upload multiple options and let YouTube determine which one to show viewers based on which is most likely to attract their interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature can also be applied to existing videos, giving creators another way to test and potentially improve the performance of older content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouTube is increasingly using AI to automate some of these decisions, although creators remain in control of whether they give the platform permission to make changes and run tests across their catalogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
