Spotify is giving parents more control over their taste profile, allowing them to exclude kids and family music from recommendations and Wrapped.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Parents everywhere, rejoice! If your Spotify<\/a> recommendations have started sounding suspiciously like your child\u2019s favourite playlist, there\u2019s now a way to fix it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spotify is introducing <\/a>a new setting that lets parents and other listeners exclude kids and family music from their taste profile. That means songs played during family time can stay out of personalised recommendations, including Discover Weekly, Daily Mix and your Spotify Wrapped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature is rolling out globally on mobile to both Free and Premium users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Spotify\u2019s new toggle works<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spotify\u2019s new toggle is designed for those times when the music you\u2019re listening to doesn\u2019t necessarily reflect your own taste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents can still search for, listen to and create playlists featuring kids and family music as usual. The difference is that those streams won\u2019t be used to shape Spotify\u2019s understanding of what they like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That could cover everything from nursery rhymes and children\u2019s songs to music from animated films and family TV shows. So, you can put on your child\u2019s favourite soundtrack during the school run or play nursery rhymes at home without those songs influencing what Spotify recommends to you later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The setting is called \u201cInclude kids and family music in taste profile\u201d and is turned on by default. Users can switch it off whenever they want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s also a particular benefit when it comes to Wrapped. Spotify says the change applies retroactively, meaning kids and family music you have already listened to will no longer count towards relevant Wrapped results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if a children\u2019s song has somehow become your most-played track of 2026 after months of family listening, switching off the setting can remove its influence on your Wrapped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To switch it off, go to Settings and privacy > Content and display, then turn off Include kids and family music in taste profile. Spotify says it can take up to 48 hours for the changes to appear in personalised recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It helps shape personalised experiences including Discover Weekly, Daily Mix and Wrapped. This was designed for listening that might be useful in a particular situation without necessarily representing someone\u2019s overall taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Spotify expanded the feature to let listeners exclude individual tracks<\/a> too. This means users can remove specific songs from their taste profile without having to exclude an entire playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
