Youth Music’s NextGen Fund is offering grants of up to \u00a33,000 to emerging musicians and creatives aged 18-25, or up to 30 for d\/Deaf, Disabled or Neurodivergent applicants.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Youth Music has opened the latest round of its NextGen Fund, offering grants of up to \u00a33,000 to early-stage musicians and music-adjacent creatives looking to develop their careers and bring new ideas to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young musicians and creatives across the UK have another opportunity to access funding, with Youth Music opening Round 14 of its NextGen Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund offers grants of up to \u00a33,000 to creatives aged 18 to 25, with the age limit extended to 30 for applicants who identify as d\/Deaf, Disabled or Neurodivergent. The current round opened on 28 August and applications are open until 25 September 2026 at 5pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NextGen Fund is designed to support people in the early stages of their careers who may not have access to the financial resources, networks or industry support needed to take their next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For independent artists and creatives trying to establish themselves in the music industry, that support could make a meaningful difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Youth Music NextGen Fund?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The NextGen Fund is aimed at early-stage musicians and music-adjacent creatives who want to invest in themselves and develop their creative careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While musicians are at the heart of the programme, applications aren’t limited to performing artists. Youth Music says it welcomes applications from singers, rappers, songwriters, producers and DJs, as well as A&Rs, managers, promoters, agents and other creatives working in or around the music industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funding can be used to help bring a creative project to life, develop skills or move an artist’s career forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previous NextGen recipients have used funding for projects including debut EPs, music videos, photography, videography, live events, digital content and new business ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes the fund particularly interesting for artists who have a clear idea of what they want to achieve but need some financial support to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who can apply?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The NextGen Fund is open to people aged 18\u201325, or 18\u201330 for those who identify as d\/Deaf, Disabled or Neurodivergent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must be based in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, and the fund is particularly focused on people at an early stage of their careers who face barriers to progressing in the music industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund is also intended for people who have never received funding before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Music says applicants don’t have to be completely new to making music. However, the fund is not intended for creatives who have already had major record or publishing deals, high-profile performances and significant press coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What could the funding be used for?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u00a33,000 grant could potentially help cover a range of costs connected to an artist’s development or creative project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, an artist could use funding towards creating and releasing an EP, producing a music video, developing visual content, putting on a live event or investing in equipment and skills that support their creative practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund can also support people working behind the scenes in music, making it relevant to creatives whose careers don’t necessarily involve performing on stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Projects can last for up to 12 months, giving recipients time to develop their ideas rather than having to complete everything within a short period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For d\/Deaf, Disabled or Neurodivergent applicants, Youth Music can also provide additional support for personal access costs on top of the \u00a33,000 grant. This can include costs such as British Sign Language interpreters, personal assistants or support workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why funding like this matters for independent artists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting a career in music can be expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recording, mixing and mastering a project can quickly add up, while music videos, photography, equipment, promotion and live performances can all require investment before an artist has generated significant income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an emerging artist without a label or substantial industry backing, finding that money can be one of the biggest barriers to developing their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding programmes such as the NextGen Fund can provide artists with the opportunity to invest in a specific idea and take it further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can also encourage artists to think beyond simply releasing their next single. A grant could be used to develop a larger project, learn a new skill, build a team or create something that helps establish their identity as an artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications are now open<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NextGen Fund Round 14 opened on 28 August 2026 and closes on 25 September 2026 at 5pm, with applicants expected to receive a decision in January 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Music recommends reading the application guidance carefully and being realistic about what can be achieved with up to \u00a33,000 and a maximum project length of 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisation also advises applicants to clearly explain their project, why it matters to them and how the funding could help them progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an independent artist with an idea they’ve been waiting to bring to life, the NextGen Fund could be an opportunity worth exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
