Relive the highlights, standout sets and unforgettable moments from ArcTanGent 2026, the festival\u2019s final year at Fernhill Farm.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

2026 was a particularly significant year for ArcTanGent. After more than a decade at Fernhill Farm, this year’s festival marked the final edition at its much-loved home before moving to Todenham Manor in 2027. For me, this was only my second ArcTanGent, but after the experience of last year I was already counting down the days, and this year’s festival absolutely lived up to the anticipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was something particularly celebratory about this year’s edition. Perhaps it was knowing that this was the final time we’d be camping, dancing, moshing and wandering between stages at Fernhill, but the whole weekend felt like a fitting send-off for a festival site that has become such an important part of ArcTanGent’s identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, the lineup was stacked. ArcTanGent’s ability to bring together experimental rock, math rock, post-rock, metal, hardcore, electronic music and everything in between is one of the reasons the festival feels so distinctive. The 2026 lineup was also remarkably diverse in its artists, sounds and identities, reinforcing ArcTanGent’s reputation as one of the most inclusive and welcoming festivals within the heavier and alternative music scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, with four days and an almost ridiculous number of bands to choose from, here’s how my weekend went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’ve said this before, but I genuinely think ArcTanGent is one of those festivals where, if you’re able to, the four-day ticket is worth considering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday has a slightly different atmosphere to the rest of the weekend. With fewer stages open, you can comfortably move between sets, get yourself settled into the site and ease into festival mode without feeling like you’re immediately having to choose between five bands you desperately want to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the Wednesday lineup certainly wasn’t taking it easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With SikTh<\/strong> headlining the opening day and the likes of Svalbard, Alpha Male Tea Party, Giant Walker, Sans Froid, Lost In Kiev, Overhead, The Albatross and Chalk Hands<\/strong> also on the bill, there was plenty to get excited about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My personal highlights were Giant Walker, Sans Froid, Svalbard and Alpha Male Tea Party<\/strong>. Each offered something completely different, which is perhaps the best possible introduction to what ArcTanGent does so well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday is also a great opportunity to get your bearings. There’s something lovely about arriving before the main rush, wandering around the site, checking out the traders and food stalls and gradually settling into the ArcTanGent rhythm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thursday was a slightly quieter day for me personally, as I found myself drifting between sets rather than trying to catch absolutely everything, which is sometimes exactly what you need at a festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was still an enormous amount happening, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My highlights included L.O.E, Nordic Giants, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Igorrr, Chelsea Wolfe and Zu<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea Wolfe<\/strong> was one of the major draws of the day, bringing a darker and more atmospheric presence to the festival, while Igorrr<\/strong> delivered the kind of wonderfully chaotic genre collision that feels right at home at ArcTanGent. Nordic Giants<\/strong> offered something altogether more cinematic, while The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza<\/strong> provided a very different kind of intensity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bruise Blood Silent Disco Live Set<\/strong> was followed by the Silent Disco itself, giving the evening a suitably surreal ending. One of my favourite things about ArcTanGent is that the day doesn’t necessarily end when the final band leaves the stage. There’s always another part of the festival waiting for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Friday is always going to be one of the busiest days at ArcTanGent, and this year was no exception. I started early with WORN OUT<\/strong>, before heading over to Wildernesses<\/strong> and then Conjurer<\/strong>. I had to cut my time with Conjurer short, however, because I didn’t want to miss Night Swimming<\/strong>, who were playing at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the only problem with ArcTanGent, the lineup is so strong that you inevitably end up having to make difficult decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a little break, I caught Arcane Roots<\/strong>, followed by Napalm Death<\/strong>, before ending the night in the pit for Primus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primus<\/strong> were undoubtedly one of the most anticipated acts of the entire weekend. Their appearance felt like a genuinely special booking, and the atmosphere around the site throughout the day made it clear just how many people were waiting to see them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Primus finally took to the stage, the arena felt like the busiest I’d seen it all weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing a band with their history and reputation at a festival as intimate as ArcTanGent was a particularly exciting prospect, and the performance felt like one of those sets people would be talking about long after the festival had finished. The festival’s own programme described the reunited classic lineup of Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Tim Alexander as its definitive Primus lineup, making their Friday headline slot even more significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conjurer<\/strong> were another band I kept hearing people talk about throughout the day. Their presence around the festival was hard to miss, particularly if the number of people wearing their merch was anything to go by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Waking up on Saturday felt slightly strange for me. There was excitement about another packed day of music, but also the realisation that this was the final full day of ArcTanGent at Fernhill Farm. After this weekend, the festival would be leaving the site that has been its home for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I wanted to make the most of it. I spent much of the morning exploring the stalls and traders around the site. ArcTanGent has a great selection of independent traders, with everything from music merchandise and clothing to jewellery and other handmade goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My highlights included itoldyouiwouldeatyou, TTNG, MASTER BOOT RECORD and the BATTLESNAKE Silent Disco DJ set<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TTNG<\/strong> felt like a particularly special booking given the history. Their set had an incredible atmosphere and was exactly the sort of performance that reminds you why festivals like ArcTanGent are so valuable for music discovery. Their appearance also felt like a great fit for the festival’s math-rock roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASTER BOOT RECORD<\/strong> brought something completely different, while itoldyouiwouldeatyou delivered the kind of chaotic energy that feels perfectly suited to an ArcTanGent crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final headline performance at Fernhill was always going to carry some weight, and Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas performing <\/strong>Mariner<\/em><\/strong> was a great way to close the festival’s Fernhill chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance marked the 10th anniversary of Mariner<\/em>, making it more than simply another headline set. It was a celebration of a record, a collaboration and a piece of music history, and an appropriately ambitious way for ArcTanGent to say goodbye to its longtime home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Saturday lineup also included Eiv\u00f8r, Chat Pile, High on Fire, Oathbreaker, Jamie Lenman and TTNG<\/strong>, making it an enormous final day before the festival’s move to its new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silent Disco once again kept things going until the early hours, providing one final opportunity to dance, sing along and spend time with the people who had become part of your festival weekend, especially when the DJ played Demiurge. Cover image by @snaprockandpop<\/p>\n\n\n\n
