A new biopic chronicling the life and career of legendary rapper, entrepreneur and cultural icon Snoop Dogg is officially heading to cinemas in 2027, with Universal Pictures confirming a release date of August 6, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Titled Snoop<\/em>, the upcoming film promises to bring one of hip-hop’s most recognisable figures to the big screen, charting the story of an artist whose career has stretched from the early days of West Coast rap to global superstardom and a diverse business empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking on the challenging role of Snoop will be Jonathan Daviss, best known for his performance as Pope Heyward in Outer Banks<\/em>. The actor will portray the rapper in a film directed by Craig Brewer, the filmmaker behind Hustle & Flow<\/em>, Dolemite Is My Name<\/em> and Coming 2 America<\/em>. Brewer has also rewritten the screenplay, originally developed by Joe Robert Cole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is particularly significant as it represents the first film to emerge from Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment, with Snoop himself serving as a producer alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker.
