Instead, it&#8217;s positioning music videos as another way for artists to increase engagement, reach new listeners and encourage deeper listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For independent artists, that&#8217;s another opportunity to get more value from the content they&#8217;re already creating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>Spotify says video keeps fans listening for longer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the announcement, Spotify shared new data showing how video can influence listener behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Spotify, listeners who watch a full-length video on Spotify stream that song 64% more over the following three weeks than comparable listeners who only streamed the audio. These listeners are also 1.4 times more likely to save the song, share it or add it to a playlist, while going on to stream 57% more of the artist&#8217;s wider catalogue during the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These numbers increase when it comes to an artist&#8217;s &#8220;super listeners&#8221;, who stream their music 62% more after watching a video. This suggests that video doesn&#8217;t just attract attention, it can strengthen relationships with existing fans too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How Video on Spotify Takes Your Fans Further\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7r_6N70h46g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While these figures come from Spotify&#8217;s own research, they reinforce a trend that&#8217;s becoming increasingly clear across the music industry: audiences are engaging with artists through far more than audio alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>From uploads to discovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When Spotify first introduced direct video uploads in beta, the focus was on making it easier for eligible artists to upload official music videos, live performances, studio sessions and covers directly through Spotify for Artists. Now, Spotify is expanding that vision with nearly 100,000 artists having access to the beta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible artists can continue uploading full-length videos directly through Spotify for Artists, while labels and distributors can also continue delivering videos as before.
