Spotify is testing a new conversational AI experience that lets eligible Premium users discover music and control playback using natural voice or text prompts.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Spotify is giving eligible Premium subscribers a new way to interact with the platform, introducing a conversational AI experience<\/a> that lets listeners chat directly with Spotify to find music, ask questions and personalise their listening sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature is rolling out in beta on mobile as Spotify continues expanding its AI-powered discovery tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spotify wants listening to feel more like a conversation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Rather than relying solely on playlists or search, listeners can now type or speak naturally to Spotify from the Home screen or Now Playing view. As Spotify explains, users can have a back-and-forth conversation to shape what they hear without leaving the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature can be used to discover artists, refine recommendations or control playback with requests such as “Play some artists I haven’t heard before” before narrowing the results with follow-up prompts like “Keep the same vibe, but with smaller undiscovered artists.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listeners can also ask Spotify to save tracks, add songs to their queue or follow an artist entirely through the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beta is rolling out gradually to eligible Premium users aged 18 and over in the US, Ireland and Sweden across iOS and Android devices in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experience goes beyond choosing music<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spotify’s new assistant isn’t just designed to recommend songs. Users can also ask questions about the music they’re listening to, including album release dates, genres or the inspiration behind a record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experience extends to podcasts and audiobooks too, allowing listeners to learn more about authors, guests and related content without interrupting playback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spotify has also introduced a more interactive way to revisit listening habits. Users can ask when they first heard a song or explore the genres they’ve been listening to recently, giving listeners a new perspective on their own music tastes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
