The new feature will allow listeners to adjust the balance of bass, mids, and treble directly on their AirPods for the first time, giving users more control over how their music sounds across any app or device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a surprisingly significant update for one of the world\u2019s most popular audio products, which means a more personalised listening experience for users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long-awaited AirPods feature finally arrives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to reports from AppleInsider<\/a> and MacRumors<\/a>, the custom EQ feature will arrive as part of Apple’s upcoming software and product updates later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While AirPods have gained a range of intelligent listening features in recent years, including Adaptive Audio, Personalized Spatial Audio, and Conversation Awareness, Apple has never allowed users to directly alter the audio beyond the default tuning. The closest is probably the EQ presets offered within Apple Music<\/a><\/strong>, but these only affect playback within the streaming platform itself, and not the AirPods more broadly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering the original AirPods launched in 2016, some users may wonder why it\u2019s taken Apple so long to introduce a feature that has become fairly standard. In most cases, competing headphones and earbuds have offered custom EQ controls through companion apps for years, like the recently reviewed EarFun Clip 2<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we still don’t know<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although Apple has confirmed custom EQ is coming, several details remain unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, it’s not yet known whether users will be able to save multiple EQ presets for different genres or listening situations, something that many competing audio apps already support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
