Bruno Mars is back with his first number 1 IFPI global single since 2011, joined by the record-breaking Ros\u00e9.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“APT.” by Ros\u00e9 and Bruno Mars has officially been named<\/a> the Biggest-Selling Global Single of 2025 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This victory marks some other interesting firsts for the IFPI’s charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its latest Global Single Chart announcement, IFPI confirmed that the track reached 2.06 billion global chart units, which represents and considers the consumption of tracks including single track downloads and streaming across free and paid platforms. “APT.” secured the number one position in what IFPI described as “one of the most competitive years in the chart\u2019s history.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result stands out for a few key reasons. According to IFPI, this is the first time the Global Single Chart has been topped by an artist from outside North America or Europe. It is also the first time a No.1 single has featured non-English lyrics. Ros\u00e9 is a New Zealand and South Korean artist, and she hold numerous world records and firsts as both a member of BLACKPINK and as a female K-pop solist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chart performance of “APT.” was supported by coordinated international label campaigns. IFPI highlighted the alignment of radio, digital platforms and marketing activity across regions, helping to maintain visibility and long-term audience engagement rather than relying on a short spike of attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, said, \u201cRos\u00e9 and Bruno Mars topping the IFPI Global Single Chart with APT. is a landmark moment, not least as it\u2019s the first time a winning single has featured non-English lyrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s results also underline the global reach of today\u2019s music market, with songs connecting across languages and borders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking beyond the top spot, the rest of the Top 20 reveals several wider trends. At No.2 is Golden<\/em> by HUNTR\/X with 2.00 billion units. The track features in the popular 2025 animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters<\/a>, and delivered a strong performance despite being released mid-year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A notable detail in this year\u2019s chart is longevity. Every one of the top five singles from 2024 remained present in 2025\u2019s ranking. In total, eight of the Top 10 tracks originated from the previous year. IFPI linked this to continued label investment in audience development and sustained promotion of high-performing releases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
