Instead, it debuted exclusively on Spotify Premium and <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-apple-music\/\">Apple Music<\/a> for its first two days before expanding to YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a notable move. For years, YouTube has been considered the go-to platform for releasing music videos. However, this rollout has put streaming platforms first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That change makes sense too. Streaming platforms like Spotify are continuing to build out <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-music-videos-us-canada-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video features<\/a>, meaning there\u2019s now a greater opportunity for artists to release their music videos on platforms other than YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>The bigger picture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Swift\u2019s move also comes following YouTube\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/youtube-pulls-data-from-billboard-charts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent decision<\/a> to pull out of Billboard\u2019s US music charts. For years, YouTube supplied chart data to Billboard. But now, YouTube believes that Billboard\u2019s modernized chart rankings still don\u2019t fully reflect how audiences consume music today, as it values paid subscription streams more heavily than ad-supported ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only does this decision impact upon the accuracy of Billboard\u2019s charts, but it also gives artists and labels less incentive to prioritize YouTube as a platform.
