A record-breaking milestone underscores Afrobeat\u2019s global power as Wizkid tops Africa\u2019s most streamed artists list.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wizkid has made history to become the first African artist to reach 10 billion streams on Spotify<\/a>. According to Vanguard<\/a>, the latest streaming figures put Wizkid ahead of all African artists on Spotify across all of his song credits. It\u2019s a huge milestone not only for Wizkid, but for African music as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wizkid\u2019s achievement has been fuelled by a decade of hits. Most noticeably, his guest appearance on Drake\u2019s 2016 global smash \u2018One Dance\u2019 accounts for close to 4 billion streams alone. The rest of his catalogue can\u2019t be dismissed though, as it\u2019s much more than just one viral hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a lead artist, his most streamed track \u2018Essence<\/a>\u2019 featuring Tems has racked up over 338 million streams. His third studio album (and most streamed album), Made In Lagos Deluxe<\/a><\/em>, has over one billion streams. More recently, Wizkid\u2019s Morayo<\/a><\/em> was the most streamed album in Nigeria last year, with the artist also ranking as the platform\u2019s most streamed artist in the country last year too.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Wizkid sits at the top of the list, he isn\u2019t the only one pushing African music forward. He\u2019s closely followed by Burna Boy with 9.5 billion streams, Rema with 5.6 billion streams, Tems with 4.4 billion streams, Tyla with 3.7 billion streams, and Ayra Starr with 3.3 billion streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, Wizkid\u2019s numbers aren\u2019t in isolation. He\u2019s setting new milestones worth celebrating.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
