This time, the platform is putting unprecedented control into the hands of its listeners. <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2025-12-10\/spotify-prompted-playlists-algorithm-gustav-soderstrom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prompted Playlists<\/a> is Spotify\u2019s latest personalized playlist tool that lets users type out exactly what they want to hear before Spotify builds a playlist around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be as specific or broad as the user wants, marking a huge step forward in Spotify\u2019s efforts to offer deeper user personalization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The feature is rolling out from December 11 in English only to Premium users in New Zealand as part of an early access beta test, and will evolve before a wider rollout later down the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What is Spotify\u2019s Prompted Playlist tool?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Prompted Playlists builds upon Spotify\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-ai-playlist-expands-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">existing AI playlist generator<\/a>, but this version goes much further. Users can now simply describe the exact type of playlist they want, using as much or as little detail they like. But now, users can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Edit the prompt at any time to fine-tune the results<\/li><li>Choose how often the playlist refreshes (whether it be daily or weekly etc.)<\/li><li>Pick from \u201cIdeas\u201d, which are curated prompt suggestions from Spotify\u2019s music editors, such as \u201csongs from artists who are headlining major tours right now\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can go as broad or specific as you want with your prompts. Spotify\u2019s suggested examples include asking for \u201cmusic from my top artists from the last five years\u201d alongside the \u201cdeep cuts I haven\u2019t heard yet\u201d. However, Prompted Playlists takes that promise to a new level, letting users shape their listening experience in as much detail as they wish.
