According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/taylor-swift-life-of-a-showgirl-number-one-billboard-200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Billboard<\/a>, the album sold a whopping 4.002 million units in its first week. Of those, 3.48 million came from pure album sales, with streaming contributing another 522,600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those figures were enough to dethrone Adele\u2019s \u201825\u2019, which had held the record since 2015 with 3.482 million first-week sales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swift also landed her 15th No.1 album on the Billboard 200, making her the solo artist with the most No.1 albums in US history. She surpassed a tie with Drake and Jay-Z in the process, leaving only The Beatles that sit ahead of her with 19 No.1 albums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also a massive leap from Swift\u2019s previous first-week record of 2.61 million units from her previous album \u2018The Tortured Poets Department\u2019. The album debuted at No.1 on the UK album chart, marking Swift\u2019s 14th UK chart-topping album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 432,000 first-week sales, it\u2019s the second highest debut for an album in the UK, falling short of Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u2018\u00f7\u2019 (Divide) which sold 672,000 units in its first week in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swift now holds the third most UK No.1 albums, trailing only The Beatles and Robbie Williams. They both hold 15 No.1 albums each, but given Swift\u2019s current output of No.1 records, it could just be a matter of time until she overtakes them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her achievements didn\u2019t stop there. \u2018The Life of a Showgirl\u2019 also claimed the biggest first-week vinyl sales in the UK since modern chart records began in 1994, and the most UK album streams in a single week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What about the album\u2019s release party film?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the album, Swift launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/taylor-swift-announces-global-cinema-release-party-for-the-life-of-a-showgirl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">global release party film<\/a>.
