Instagram has <a href=\"https:\/\/about.instagram.com\/blog\/announcements\/instagram-for-ipad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">finally launched a native iPad app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though Instagram head Adam Mosseri said <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mosseri\/status\/1498046814288633857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1498046814288633857%7Ctwgr%5Eef981da2f308aa768296d3bf4d189b52d75b923d%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Froutenote.com%2Fblog%2Finstagram-may-finally-be-launching-an-ipad-app%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demand for an iPad app simply wasn\u2019t there as little as three years ago<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/instagram-may-finally-be-launching-an-ipad-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report in April<\/a> indicated that an Instagram iPad app was in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-routenote-blog wp-block-embed-routenote-blog\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"PqTkvJE2dG\"><a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/instagram-may-finally-be-launching-an-ipad-app\/\">Instagram may finally be launching an iPad app<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Instagram may finally be launching an iPad app&#8221; &#8212; RouteNote Blog\" src=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/instagram-may-finally-be-launching-an-ipad-app\/embed\/#?secret=PqTkvJE2dG\" data-secret=\"PqTkvJE2dG\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The app works on iPad models running iPadOS 15.1 and later, and it\u2019s not just a stretched version of the mobile app. Instagram says it took the time to fine-tune the experience for the bigger iPad screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>So, what\u2019s new?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4>A Reels-first experience<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The most notable difference to the mobile version: when you open the iPad app, you\u2019ll land straight on Reels, not the traditional feed. The reason? Instagram says Reels is now the main way people discover and share content on the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories still sit at the top of the screen, and messages are tucked neatly into a sidebar for quick access. The design feels similar, but offers a simple and intuitive interface on a bigger screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>New feed options<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>iPad users will still be able to see a traditional feed, with Instagram actually rethinking how the feed works. You\u2019ll now have a few ways to keep track of posts and Reels from your favourite creators and friends:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>All feed<\/strong>: Recommended posts and reels from accounts you follow<\/li><li><strong>Friends feed<\/strong>: Recommended posts and reels from accounts you follow, and that follow you back<\/li><li><strong>Latest feed<\/strong>: A chronological feed from accounts you follow, so you don\u2019t miss the latest uploads.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can customise the order of these feeds to suit what you want to scroll through first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/lookaside.fbsbx.com\/elementpath\/media\/?media_id=787369610650955&amp;version=1756845218&amp;transcode_extension=webp\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption><em>Image credits: <a href=\"https:\/\/about.instagram.com\/blog\/announcements\/instagram-for-ipad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This provides more control to your feed than the existing one available on mobile, which only gives the option of a chronological feed from accounts you follow.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Built for the bigger screen<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A big part of Instagram\u2019s announcement is how the iPad app is purpose-built for the bigger screen.
