New data reveals Threads is quickly catching up to X (formerly Twitter) in daily app users. Here\u2019s why artists and music marketers should start paying attention.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Threads is growing fast<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Threads, Meta\u2019s discussion-based platform, has been growing quickly since its launch in 2023. New data from Similarweb<\/a> shows it is now closing in on X when it comes to daily active users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what are the figures? Threads saw 151.1 million daily mobile users in June 2025, up 127.8% from this time last year. In comparison, X saw 132 million daily mobile users, a 15.2% drop year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the web side of things, it\u2019s a different story. X still leads with 145.8 million average daily web users, compared to Threads with just 6.9 million. However, TechCrunch <\/a>explains this is not a huge surprise. Threads was always built as a mobile-first platform, launching its app before any web version was available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, while X dominates web traffic, the gap in mobile use is shrinking fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, emerging competitor Bluesky grew 372.5% year-over-year but its daily active users remains small in comparison with just 4.1 million daily app users and 5.3 million web users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Threads is booming<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Similar to when we reported on Threads back in February<\/a>, the platform\u2019s growth is down to many factors. Since Elon Musk acquired X, many users have been exploring alternatives and Threads is a go-to. It\u2019s been improving the experience too, with features like music integration<\/a> and better transparency tools<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…and it seems to be paying off. Threads now boasts 350 million monthly active users, up from 320 million in February<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
