{"id":104841,"date":"2025-06-11T16:21:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/?p=104841"},"modified":"2025-06-11T16:22:55","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:22:55","slug":"alexa-plus-now-has-more-than-a-million-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/alexa-plus-now-has-more-than-a-million-users\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexa Plus now has more than a million users"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 style=\"user-select: auto;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; user-select: auto;\">Amazon\u2019s AI-powered upgrade to its voice assistant is now bringing smarter music discovery in over a million homes through Alexa+.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>A gradual Alexa+ rollout<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon announced back in February that its voice assistant would receive an <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/amazon-unveils-ai-powered-alexa-alexa-plus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI-powered upgrade<\/a>, alongside an Early Access launch for March earlier this year. Now, Amazon\u2019s Alexa Plus has reached over one million users, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/684560\/amazon-alexa-plus-one-million-users-coming-summer-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Verge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is up from just the few hundreds of thousands who had access last month, and Reddit users are starting to reveal their experiences with the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:316px\" data-embed-height=\"336\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/alexa\/comments\/1l77a50\/so_i_am_actually_liking_alexa\/\">So I am actually liking Alexa+<\/a><br \/> by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/southernhope1\/\">u\/southernhope1<\/a> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/alexa\/\">alexa<\/a><\/blockquote><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>So, why the hold up? Amazon is clearly erring on the side of caution. After delays and early setbacks, the company is keen to iron out all the wrinkles before it reaches the wider public. Amazon knows the scale of the public rollout which will see its AI Alexa \u201creleased to millions of people who depend on the technology across multiple devices\u201d- and wants to get it right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon spokesperson Eric Sveum told The Verge it\u2019s now gradually reaching more users \u201cat an increasing place\u201d and is expected to be made \u201cmore broadly available over the summer\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What Alexa Plus can (and can\u2019t) do yet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When unveiled in February, the biggest upgrades to Alexa centred around a more conversational voice and smarter \u201cagentic\u201d features- meaning the voice assistant can complete tasks across apps on your behalf. For example, it could effortlessly interact with apps like Ticketmaster to remind you about concert tickets and upcoming events, and book them on your behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For music lovers, Alexa Plus should also be able to memorise preferences, help you find songs based on vague descriptions, and integrate with <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/upload-your-music-to-spotify-for-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spotify<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-apple-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apple Music<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/how-to-get-my-music-on-pandora-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pandora<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/get-music-on-amazon-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amazon Music Unlimited<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the goal, anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the moment, many of these music-forward features are live in Early Access, but Sveum revealed that several features aren\u2019t. Features like \u201cjump to your favorite scene on Fire TV; order groceries hands-free; order delivery through GrubHub; schedule your next spa visit; brainstorm the perfect gift idea; set personalized reminders and Routines for your family; create personalized music\u201d and \u201cAccess Alexa+ on browser\u201d are all still missing in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon says around 90% of the promised tools are already available, including memory recall and a more conversational voice assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>\u201cA lot of customers are telling us they love natural, free-flowing conversations with Alexa. It enables them to complete more complex requests like controlling multiple smart home devices at once, deep dive on music or trending topics.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><cite>Eric Sveum, Amazon spokesperson<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The other, currently unavailable features, are set to be made available in the coming weeks and months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Will Amazon\u2019s Suno partnership still arrive?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One feature of importance to the music industry is Alexa+\u2019s planned integration with controversial AI music generator Suno. Announced earlier this year, the partnership would let users create full songs including vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation from simple requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This stirred up <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/amazon-suno-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quite the debate<\/a> given Suno\u2019s tricky legal history over using copyrighted music to train its AI without permission. The company is <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/suno-ai-sued-again-this-time-by-gema\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">battling lawsuits<\/a> and has <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/suno-admits-it-used-copyrighted-music-blames-majors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all but admitted<\/a> to training its AI on copyrighted tracks, but is <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/suno-ai-music-update-vocals-longer-tracks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ploughing on with its platform<\/a> while relying on a fair use claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is made all the worse given Amazon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/spotify-and-universal-music-groups-new-deal-pushes-towards-the-future-of-streaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">public partnership with Universal<\/a> which is aimed at tackling unlawful AI-generated content. Suno is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/suno-udio-record-labels-licensing-talks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rumoured <\/a>to be discussing licensing measures with major labels which could make its actions lawful.
