Billboard were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/columns\/chart-beat\/6320099\/billboard-200-makeover-streams-digital-tracks\">one of the first in 2014<\/a> and the UK followed suit early last year, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.officialcharts.com\/chart-news\/uk-s-official-albums-chart-to-include-streaming-data-for-first-time__8012\/\">streaming in the official UK charts<\/a>\u00a0for the first time ever. \u00a0Germany have also<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/german-album-charts-to-include-streaming-data\/a-19020459\"> recently integrated streaming figures<\/a> with sales in their charts.<\/p>\n<p>Now French music body and official charting company\u00a0Syndicat National de l&#8217;\u00c9dition Phonographique (SNEP) are getting with the times. SNEP introduced an individual chart for streaming figures back in 2014, aiming to integrate that into a combined chart of sales and streaming shortly after. Now, after a slight delay, music streaming is officially included with the sales charts.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst SNEP haven&#8217;t made an official announcement themselves yet they made a statement on their partner website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chartsinfrance.net\/\">Charts in France<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/french-singles-chart-now-combines-sales-streaming\/\">Music Business Worldwide<\/a> translated their statement, which read: &#8220;To the contrary of the UK and the US, SNEP and GFK, the institute compiling the charts, have decided to multiply the sales figure (by 150) and add them to streaming data rather than dividing streaming by 150 and adding it to sales.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is different to Billboard and the Official UK Charts which scale streaming figures down into Streaming Equivalent Units &#8211; the amount of streams which equal a track or album sale. Charts in France reasoned their reverse technique, saying: &#8220;It seemed more logical to us to convert the data of the smaller trend to that of the bigger, and not the opposite.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The French music industry has been seeing a <a href=\"https:\/\/musicindustryblog.wordpress.com\/2016\/03\/09\/french-music-sales-are-in-a-tailspin-get-used-to-it\/\">fairly rapid drop<\/a> in revenue over the past few years. The worldwide industry has been seeing similar reductions that have been counteracted by the rise in streaming, which is now giving the <a href=\"http:\/\/routenote.com\/blog\/universal-music-revenues-rise-despite-decline-in-sales-thanks-to-streaming\/\">first rise in music revenues<\/a> in years.
